“Good value”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2013

Visited again and found that if one was selective in choice of BBQ meats it was possible to enjoy the experience more than if one succumbs to the great rush.

The big problem is being hurried along by the staff. True, one takes the initial salad at one's own pace but after that the servers seem to descend on you too quickly. You seem to spend too much time fending them off, but if you don't you will just be hurried and rushed and surely this is not the point, not for the diners anyway.

Actually, the staff are a problem. From the fake outfits to the inexperienced servers who just don't mind how much they inconvenience you by constantly interrupting conversation and taking up intrusive serving positions at your table.

The food though is generally quite tasty and, as noted, if you are selective you can enjoy good cuts which represent good value too.

All in all, this is a good eaterie if all you want to do is fill up quickly. But there is more to life than this. So, maybe this is not such a good place for a pleasant evening with friends where you want to set your own pace - despite all the red flag/green flag promises.

“Fit to burst”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 17, 2013

We have eaten many times at the Whetstone branch with family, friends and parties and once at the Mill hill branch as a party. Its usually £23 a head not including drinks & desserts . We are always impressed by the vast selection of unusual & interesting salads. The hot food selection of pasta and chilli are a nice touch as are the cooked vegetable accompaniments .You can top up as many times as you want. Then you press your green button on the table and this is the staffs cue to start bringing you your meat on huge skewers. You are given chicken, lamb ,beef in every flavour and style ! garlic, teriyaki, lemon, drumsticks, sausages in every variety and steak in different cuts and flavours to name but a few. They also bring around garlic bread, hot pineapple and chips. Their style is little and often so they constantly offer you more food and it doesn`t take too long for even the most dedicated foodie to throw the towel in and hit the red button to indicate no more ! You can opt for the fish option if you give 24 hours notice but this is just a single meal of fish but the salad and extras are as much as you can eat. We have had one of our party that didn`t eat meat but was full on the salad selection and the garlic bread, fries & pineapple, so much so they have since returned again as they were so pleased with it. The service is good and the place gets packed on weekends but it is a great atmosphere. Book in advance if you can. If you can make it to desserts they do a great selection although the sorbet is great if you want something tasty but a little lighter. Most good steak houses charge roughly what you would pay here and you would never get as much for your money as you do here . We always leave here fit to burst. Athletes prepare yourself as this is a marathon !!!

“Feast for carnivores”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013 via mobile

We have been there many times over the years. I have to say that food quality and service have been consistent. It's a paradise for meat lovers but there is a huge salad bar as well containing variety of side dishes, not just leaves. The concept is simple: you pay a set fee per person (about £23) and you are offered continuously freshly barbecued meats. Warning: don't get carried away with sausages, chicken wings etc - the best is still to come. Their top quality beef is absolutely amazing, just be patient. The drinks and puddings are not included in price so when going for special occasion, our family of four (with 2 teenagers) runs up a bill between £150 and £200

“Birthday Treat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

Came here for a family birthday for the first time and absolutely loved it. The family all loved the meat and as a vegetarian i thought the salad bar and grilled pineapple was fantastic

Would be happy to come and eat here every week - can't wait until the next time !

“Really lovely - different way of dining”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

This is a pretty unique restaurant and we loved it!!

There is a fresh salad bar which is kept stocked up and is lovely! Then the waiters come round with lots of different types of fresh meat and you can accept or decline at your leisure! If you want a greak then you just press your red button and they will not come to you! The meats are lovely, tasty and tender.

Don't eat too much to fast (tempting).

This place is vibrant, interesting and unique! A must go!!!
