Novotel London West
Ranked #426 of 1,077 Hotels in London
Reviewed September 28, 2012

Recently stayed in the Novotel on a business trip. There are just a few minor things which could be fixed. The internet in the room is too expensive. £12.25 for 24 hours (wired connection only), surely in this day and age you can look at giving free WiFi in the entire hotel.

I would recommend not getting the breakfast option on your room as the queues for breakfast in the morning are long and you can be waiting for up to 5 minutes for a seat. Better off heading down the road into Hammersmith for some breakfast.

The lifts in the hotel are very busy in the morning so expect to be waiting some time to get down to the ground floor.

A good point about this place is it is located beside Hammersmith Tube station so it could be a good base for touring around London.

We stayed at the Hammersmith Novotel on a recommendation by a friend! The location turned out to be perfect with only a short walk to Hammersmith tube station and the lovely cafes and shops of Hammersmith!

We arrived early at the Novotel and on arrival not only could we check in 2 hours early but we were upgraded for free to a deluxe room! The rooms were spacious and very clean! With lots of gadgets to make your stay more comfortable with a bose sound system, large flat screen tv and excellent tea and coffee facilities!

There are some fantastic pubs and little cafes that are perfect stop off points as you walk to the tube station! With excellent transport links to the centre of London Hammersmith is the perfect base!

My husband and I stayed for two nights in August as we were attending the Rugby League Challenge cup final at Wembley. We have stayed at Novotel in Edinburgh and in Southampton so knew what to expect but this hotel really was outstanding. The rooms are clean with all the trappings you might need. Thankfully the double glazing was very efficient as we were next to the Hammersmith flyover! The breakfast was excellent with lots of choices and although it was very busy, the hotel was full, we didn't have to wait for long. What impressed me most was the restaurant for dinner, it was like dining at a top class London restaurant. The food was delicious as was the wine. A thoroughly enjoyable stay. My only complaint was that I found the bed very hard but I managed to get a good night's sleep. Oh and I loved the coffee machine in the bedroom!

Room Tip: Choose a an executive room to get the coffee machine.

This was a very nice hotel, clean, roomy, nice finishes, and I love that I can plug my iPod in and hear it while I shower. It is super easy to get to, we took the Tube from the airport, it was super easy, even with luggage in tow, and also very easy to get into the city. There were a few pubs around the area, shops and also in the Tube station a market.
The lobby was also nice, places to sit and play cards at night.
I was very disappointed with the customer service, however. We had a group of ten people, five rooms. One of our rooms had a mistake that showed no breakfast, though on our paperwork it showed breakfast for all of our rooms. After talking to the front desk clerk for over an hour, they would not resolve the issue, nor would the manager come out. It was so disappointing to deal with their unwillingness to perform some simple customer service, and the clerk said that "There is no way we can comp the breakfast for this room." Breakfast was a buffet, not plated, it would have been simple to fix this, and reduce the stress for these two travelers, but they would not budge. This made a huge difference for the satisfaction for the entire group and seemed petty.

We stayed at Novotel West London for three nights before embarking on a trip with Cosmos. We found the hotel to be more than adequate with very friendly staff. The rooms were clean with all the amenities you would expect from a top hotel. Free wi-fi was only available down stairs at reception and one of the keypads on the six computers wasn't working but we found choosing your time wisely the best policy so as to avoid a cue. The breakfast was very good too although the staff were clearly not coping too well with the influx of people coming into the restaurant as some items were out of stock. The area the hotel is situated in is great too with two tube stations just around the corner and plenty of shops and restaurants. Would like to stay there again but next time a bit longer.

Room Tip: When heading to the Tube, head out the door on the first floor rather than the bottom. It will save...

It was London Fashion Week and all the other hotels I normally stay in were full so I ended up here and spent two nights on a business trip (so I wasn't paying myself).

The bottom line is that it's a decent business hotel. Functional, clean, the rooms are sizeable (I stayed there with my girlfriend and we had plenty of space), the shower works and there's the full range of tolietries. It's big, which means that the bar and (particularly) the breakfast room are busy with several large parties. (For those who travel a lot, it's the kind of hotel which airlines use for air crew). Staff are competent and friendly, there is no wifi in the room, only a wired broad band connection, and the tV choice is limited unless you want to pay for PPV.

The room service was quick and the food surprisingly tasty. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety - fruit was good and plentiful, the cooked breakfast was a bit insitutional.

All-in-all, it was (as rated) average for the price. You can probably find better, cheaper in London but it probably wouldn't be as convenient a location.

We needed a base in Hammersmith to attend an event at the nearby Apollo, and got a discount rate through some website or other - which happened to be for the Executive room, which was great (no breakfast though - far too expensive!). Bed a bit hard but quite wide, free espresso machine (only in the executive room), fancy toiletries (ditto), fantastic power shower. We got a room on the 8th floor and it was pretty quiet, as well as having a lovely view.

Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.

Location is very practical due to its proximity to the tube station which serves several lines, but, depending on where you need to be in London, it might take a bit to travel there (e.g. 30+ minutes to King's Cross).

We'd probably stay again if we can get a discount rate!
