“Stay here for value and location”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

My wife and I recently stayed for 9 nights at this lovely hotel in the beautiful Knightsbridge/South Kensington area. We decided on this hotel for two reasons, value and location. First value. We got an extended stay rate for the 9 nights that including the 20% VAT and full English buffet breakfast for an average of only $325.00 per night. That is a stone cold bargain for this trendy area of London that has a very neighborhood feel even though it is very close to Harrod's, museums and parks. It is also only a short walk from the South Kensington tube stop on the line that goes to Heathrow airport, allowing you to save a bundle on transportation costs. The hotel's reception area is not spectacularly gorgeous, and neither is the restaurant/breakfast buffet room. But they are clean, well run and functional. The staff was unfailingly friendly, efficient and a pleasure to deal with on a daily basis. The breakfast was more than complete with every type of fruit, cereal, pastry, etc. you could want, also including scrambled and fried eggs, bangers, ham, fried potatoes and, of course, British baked beans. I calculated that eating this type of breakfast, which could easily enable you to skip lunch, could easily save a couple $75.00 per day in breakfast and lunch costs. Great value on top of the reasonable room rate. With regard to the room, we got an executive king. The room was fairly small, but did have a king bed, two sitting chairs and a small side desk. There was ample closet and drawer space, an ironing board and iron, coffee maker, mini-bar and in room safe. The room and furnishings seemed fairly new and very well maintained. Our room, 332, had no view at all except for an inside courtyard with electrical equipment below. BUT, it was completely quiet and had a very efficient air conditioner which is important if you like a cold room, like we do. The bathroom, while only the size of a walk-in closet, is sparking clean and has a good size jacuzzi bathtub. In short, don't be put off by the size of the room and bathroom. The room was obviously recently renovated and the bed was extremely comfortable. Finally, the area around the hotel is lovely. There are a ton of good restaurants close by, including a red sauce Italian, Orsini, which is right next door, a northern Italian restaurant, Sette, on nearby Sydney Street, Thai Square, Le Brasserie, Bibendum and many other ice cream, pastry and sandwich shops. The South Kensington tube stop is a 5 minute walk, and the Knightsbridge stop a 10 minute walk right next to Harrod's. In short, if you want good value for your money in a beautiful neighborhood, do consider this hotel. You will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: I understand that the higher priced rooms can be much larger if you want to incur the additional cos...

This hotel was very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. It is located directly across from The V&A, so it is centrally located with plenty of shops and places to eat in the area.

Nice room(executive with extra bed) with enough space even for 3 people. The extra bed was very hard , though. Nice bathroom. Good breakfast, but a little slow service. A bit anonomous. Quiet rooms. Good location just opposite the museums and plenty of restaurants nearby. Close enough to the underground.

This hotel definitely is not 4* hotel. I would give it solid 3*. Our room looked very basic but comfortable. It was kind of outdated, no AC in the room. Piping system is so old so you can hear your neighbors taking shower perfectly. But location is good, few minutes from the tube with direct line to Heathrow airport and Victoria Station, across from museums and walking distance from Hyde Park and Harrods.

This is a great place to stay if you wish to visit the great museums of London such as the V&A, the Natural History and the Science museums. The Royal Albert Hall is just up the road if you wish to attend concerts and there are good transport links via the nearby Sth Kensington tube station. The hotel is large and comfortable and the adjoining leisure centre is a great place to unwind after a hard days sightseeing. Breakfast is a bit hectic.

This hotel continues to be one of our favorites for London given its nice location and it's comfortable feel. The bar and restaurant areas are very warm and welcoming. The carpets in the hallways are a tad worn but the important stuff is all there. The beds and pillows are comfy, and the room has all the basics covered. The breakfast is very extensive with many choices to choose.

The South Kennsington underground station is just a couple of blocks away and the underground also provides great transport back to Heathrow airport. It pays to use the underground, you can quickly move all over London with the best of them. Don't dilly dally, the locals move faster through their stations than any others. Why they are in such a hurry is beyond understanding since the trains come every couple of minutes. Oh well...do mind the gap...

We have travelled to London a few times lately, we have tried the cheap and cheerful, which was awful. So this trip we decided to treat ourselves and pay a bit more, and it was well worth every penny. The location was great with V&A across the road, 5 mins to Harrods, tube station round the corner. Loads of lovely cafes and lovely cake shops on the door step. The hotel staff was polite and helpful, breakfast buffet had plenty to choose from.
