We have stayed here a couple of times, and never been let down. Central location, close to underground (direct service to Heathrow) and buses (direct service to both down town and Camden), and within walking distance to West End. Area around the hotel is very nice, with shops and restaurants/bars.
Rooms are clean, large and well kept. Aircon works fine. Only dissapointment is that wi-fi is not free. Breakfast is very good with a large selection of hot and cold items.
Would we return for another stay: YES.

This is a good hotel and the staff are unusually good for a Holiday Inn-more like the standard of staff you get in Holiday Inn Express hotels! I had an executive room which was nice with all the usual amenities. As well as air-conditioning there was also a window that opened, which was great. The room was at the back and was very quiet. Any requests and problems that I had were dealt with efficiently and courteously. Breakfast was good. Wifi is free, although I am not sure if that was just because I am an IHG member.
The hotel is very well located for Euston (easy 10-minute walk) and the university. Plenty of shops and little restaurants and mini-marts nearby, and a post office around the corner.
It was expensive but that is pretty much a given in central London. I would certainly return if I need to be in this part of London.

Very easy to get to, easily walk-able from Euston or St. Pancras. Check-in service is friendly and efficient and I can recommend prepaying for the breakfast.
Concierge service is excellent, especially if you wish to leave luggage with them on your last day if your train home is late.
Rooms are comfortable altho decor is a little outdated and probably overdue a bit of a refurb.
Lifts are quick, but as the hotel is so large you could be subject to a long walk unless your room is close to the lift!
Breakfasts are excellent, and even better value if you prepay at check in.
There is a pub attached to the hotel which is pretty decent and has a good atmosphere.

I hesitated in putting this review on as, although the problem was solved in the end, it didn't stop our holiday being almost completely ruined until the very last minute.
My partner is a disabled (paraplegic) wheelchair user. This means that she is totally confined to her wheelchair & unlike some disabled people, cannot get out of the chair
or walk at all. Due to this, we are limited in the places we are able to go or stay on holiday. For example, if you get a bargain, last minute holiday in Spain & your room
has been given to someone else, you can just go & stay in any other room, in any other hotel. If it happens to us, we can only go straight back home on the next flight. So
of course, we can NEVER take advantage of a 'bargain break' & are restricted to using very expensive, specialist companies who, although they do take care of everything,
charge a small fortune for this privilege. There is an untrue belief that all disabled people are incredibly rich, though where this comes from, we have no idea as that is
NOT us.

We thought that, as we like London, we would have a short break there to unwind & do a bit of sightseeing at the same time. We haven't been there since 2011, due to the
excessive prices & as I say, we aren't rich! People who live & work in London are paid this 'London Weighting' which covers the higher prices they have to pay, but they don't
take holiday makers into the same account & quite happily make us pay through the nose for the pleasure of staying there.

Anyway, in 2011, we stayed at the Holiday Inn in Bloomsbury, where we discovered that they had a ceiling hoist, to help my partner get in & out of bed & the bath/shower. This
is a hoist that you have to carry from room to room & hook up on the ceiling rail in either room, which is preferable to a mobile hoist, which is not so manoeuvrable. This made
our short stay a much easier & more enjoyable stay than in most hotels. Also, as my son helps with the caring duties, it was good that they offered us the adjoining room on a
complimentary bed & breakfast rate, that is, the room is free with bed & breakfast thrown in & you just pay for the evening meal & any drinks.

This time however, was different. We contacted the hotel direct on the hotel's own phone number & booked through that. We were told that the complimentary room deal was still
available, although my son would be in a non adjoining room with a double bed & not two twin beds as before. We were perfectly happy with that & went ahead with the booking.
The promised confirmation email never turned up though & so we gave them my email address & they tried to send it again. Still no email arrived, so they sent us a letter through
the post confirming the booking. For some reason, the complimentary room was not mentioned on this, but they explained on the phone that it was all booked & so we trusted that &
forgot about it & carried on planning our forthcoming holiday.

Upon arrival at the hotel, we checked in & had to sign a sheet for both rooms with the total amount mentioned & had to give our card details & pin number to cover any expenses or
damages as usual. Later that day, having questioned the fact that the same amount showed on both sheets, we checked that this still only applied to the one room. Only it didn't.
Somewhere between booking & arriving, wires had crossed & we were now being told (by Michaela) that 'the policy has changed'. She told us this many times & also that nothing
could be done & we would have to pay double the quotation we were given. It was only when Joost the hotel manager arrived on the scene, that things began to fall into place.
They had said that they would try to find the original phone call recording, to confirm that what we said was true. Having later remembered that we had two reference numbers
for the rooms, we provided Joost with these, in hope that they would lead to proof of what we were saying. To me, it felt like taking a chocolate bar to the till, only to be
told that, regardless of the price shown on the ticket, I would have to pay double what it said the cost was. We could understand though, that this was merely our word against
theirs, they could only tell us that their rule on complimentary rooms had been altered & we could only tell them what we had been told on our call to book the rooms. We have to
take at least half the blame, for not getting the name of the lady we booked the rooms through. We are now prepared though that if we ever go on holiday again, we will get the first
name, surname & as many possibly helpful details about the person & company involved, before we dare to book a thing! It's just a shame that, although companies (& soon the government)!, have the right to record everything we say & do, that we can't do the same thing back, as that would have been all the proof we had needed.

So basically, thanks to Joost, who was an incredibly helpful manager, who saw sense & literally bent over backwards to help us in this case, we ended up with just what we had
expected, which was the holiday we had booked in the first place. If we ever go back there, while we will expect to pay for both rooms anyway, we will make sure that we know as many details as possible before we arrive, so as to avoid any problems. We don't wish to damage Holiday Inn's great reputation, but due to this one little 'mistake', although it was all sorted
out at the eleventh hour, we can honestly say that our holiday was still ruined, due to having this worry of paying more than we had expected & having this hanging over us all the time
we were there. I was even having nightmares of where on earth we would find the extra money for three of the four nights before this was sorted out! But I can finally say that if you
are reading this in hope of finding a good hotel with very good accessibility for the disabled, I can recommend it wholeheartedly. Problems will always happen & this time they did
happen to us, but don't let that put you off staying here. The food is good, if a bit repetetive, the rooms are perfect & the hotel is a friendly one. Best of all, the location is outstanding & for the price, whether disabled or not, you won't find better.

Room Tip: Make sure that you have everything in your room when you get there. The shampoo in ours had already...

Stayed at this hotel on business for 3 nights in July. Got upgraded to executive room upon check-in, which was nice. Egle welcomed me pleasantly and processed my check-in efficiently.

The room was up to standard and had the usual amenities. However, what was strange was that the minibar was empty and there was a sign saying that if you want it stocked up you have to call. Not very convenient if you arrive late at night.

Very sadly first impressions are so crucial and can temper a whole experience. I say sadly because the receptionist who not only failed to smile, assist or offer help in any way was the introduction to what is a lovely looking reception area. This is the first time i have ever encountered a non helpful receptionist in a hotel and it was a contrast with the rest of the staff i encountered. This was followed by a sharp intake of breath for a £7+ small glass of wine. Yes I know it's London etc etc but really!
I attended a conference the following day and the conference suite was superb, a great setting, well resourced. It was a shame they ran out of food at the buffet...but the staff were very helpful and a chicken salad was made and appeared from the kitchen.
Overall, based on my experience I would chose a different place to stay, unfortunately largely based on first impressions.

Great location - v handy for euston, lots of bars etc near bye and a nice walk to many of the London sights and attractions (covent garden, British museum etc)

Like many holiday inns nowadays though, the rooms are very tired; and at this HI also quite pokey. Having said all that, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the communal areas are nice.

On a final note - we stayed here using points; but apart from the obvious perk of free nights, I'm getting a bit fed up that being a platinum member at Holiday Inn doesn't get you much in the way of preferential treatment unlike, say, Marriott.
