“A nice and clean hotel, good service”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

The hotel is being renovated, the lobby was now closed and the entrance is through the back of the hotel on Lavington street. Same reliable standards, clean and nice room with plenty of space. Love the convenient location close to Southwark tube station and London bridge station. Very good breakfast, I loved the full English breakfast and very good service. The hotel staff are always very helpful and attentive, especially the reception staff who helped me with my luggage to my room on the first floor. Choose a room towards Lavington street instead of a room towards Stouthwark street, more peaceful on that side.

Booked a standard room here and was very pleasantly surprised at the level of comfort - yes, a small room and tiny bathroom, but the bed was large, lots of soft white towels, decent tv, free wifi and all this for a very good price in a great location. I was there for meetings, but it is also very close to Tate Modern and the Millennium Bridge, Borough Market and good transport links at London Bridge and Waterloo.
Southwark Tube isn't far away but it isn't worth getting on the tube from either of the nearby railway stations, you may as well walk from there or take a bus, which will drop you closer to the hotel.
I got a great welcome and will definitely stay here again.

The room was pretty small and unbearably hot. We couldn't have the window open as it was too noisy outside so we had to request a fan from reception (arrived very quickly), which helped us get a better night's sleep than we otherwise would have done. Other than that, the reception staff were lovely, the hotel was lovely and clean and a great location for walking up to Covent Garden, Chinatown and the theatre district. And the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc was delicious, but expensive!

Visited for a one night stay and were very impressed.

We had pre booked a parking space (small car park at the rear) and due to traffic we were on a very tight schedule.

I went to reception via the car park and was advise to nip back to the car and they would open the gates and then we could check in.

The receptionist was Cecelia Adjei who I am sure had checked in lots of people already but she was amazing. She checked us in v quickly, advised us where everything was, booked a cab for us and all this was done with a smile and a real passion for customer service which is so often lacking in chain hotels.

As I said we were in a rush and thanks to Cecelia we were in our cab in 10 minutes.

On leaving on Sunday morning she was working again and she was as friendly and professional as the day before.

One suggestion re rooms. If possible ask for a room at the back of the hotel as otherwise you are overlooking the main road which is quite busy even at weekends.

Will we go again - sure will and you have a true star in Cecelia who really impressed us and "made our stay"

When public transport is so good in London why would you chose a hotel a good 10 minutes walk from the tube station? London Bridge in name suggests its closer to the river than it is and southwark street is a dull uninspiring address. Service very welcoming and privilege room ok. I can find better choices in the city though for the £160 B&B rate paid.

We stayed for two nights in a privilege room with a kingsize bed courtesy of our Tesco Clubcard vouchers, the deal included breakfast. As well as a hot and cold buffet there was a freshly cooked option, had eggs benedict on Sat and smoked haddock with a poached egg on Sun.Room was excellent with bathrobe, slippers, upgraded toiletries, minibar. For anyone wanting a Southbank experience the location is superb with the foodie heaven of Borough Market,Tate Modern and the Shard all nearby. For those wanting to travel to Covent Garden the RV1 bus stop is right outside the hotel.

Room Tip: Try to obtain an upgrade to a privilege room
