Clean rooms, decent price, pleasant staff and well-situated in central London.

Down-sides are that the table in the room wasn't big enough to take a laptop and be able to work on and the bathroom was looking a bit tired.

Durrants is also another example of a worrying trend for charging extras for what used to be standard, in this case tea and coffee. No drinks facilities in the room, so if you want a cup of tea, that'll be a call to room service and a £4 charge for the pleasure. Too many hotels are doing this and, though it seems like a small thing, it is most unwelcome in the mind of this reviewer.

This hotel lacks atmosphere - you are "greeted" at every turn by questioning impolite staff - a facade of quality service manned by poorley trained staff with little or no comprehension of the English language - over priced and stuffy - try the Holiday Inn round the corner - its not pretending to be what it is not

Having stayed at Durrants for the first time, I was rather impressed. The main appeal of this hotel is the olde world charm of the hotel. With distinct air of a private members' club, it manages oddly to feel both cosy and slightly aloof at the same time.

The room we stayed in badly needed of a few updates. Wallpaper was peeling in places and a broken hanger and loose wardrobe tracks stood out. However the rest of the hotel was utterly charming, particularly the young man on duty who carried my suitcase and the Italian gentleman in the restaurant. My partner however, echoed the sentiments of other reviewers - that the (Eastern European?) reception staff were cold and rude.

I would certainly return, as the good points out way the bad.

I have stayed at Durrants extensively over the past 6 years. The staff are very friendly and attention, the breakfast elegant and fast. The small bar has an old club feel with oil painting of the hunt - and the location in Marylebone is very convenient. It is never noisy, and they often have great sales.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with an old fashions bath tub for a good soak!

Loved the hotel - loved the staff - loved the whole experience - look forward to going back. Thanks to everyone who made our stay so enjoyable - quite pricey but worth it - I am saving for next stay already.
