“Moody staff”
Reviewed July 6, 2012

Our check-in didn't went as we expected, and we didn't really got the help we wanted. We thought the staff at the check-in was moody and not very willing to help. The rooms were average, not as the picture showed, but fine. The rooms were cleaned every day, which was a very good thing. The breakfast was expensive and not of very good quality. In my opinion, the hotel is worth a 6-: Fine, but you can do better.

This hotel received over 1,000 pounds out of 2 friends and myself for a 7 night stay and couldn't even store our luggage for 1 night when we did an overnight stay in the country. How hard is it to store 3 locked suitcases for 1 night!
Our room was small with 3 single beds jammed into it. We had booked this room earlier in the year which gave them plenty of time to find a bigger room especially as we were staying for a week. No airconditioning so the window was kept open and the noise from the street below was horrendous.
The staff were most unhelpful and unfriendly. No friendly smiles or greeting when we entered the hotel after a day out. They couldn't even call a taxi for us even going so far as to tell us it was quicker to go out into the street to flag one down. Too bad if it was raining.
One of our party needed to go to a hospital so we asked to speak to the conceirge to ask for directions. We were told he was helping a patron. After waiting for a while we were told they weren't sure where he was and one of the staff told us the hospital was probably a 15 minute walk away. Pathetic! There was no way my friend could walk 5 minutes let alone 15 minutes with a freezing cold wind blowing. We stepped outside only to see the conceirge smoking further down the street so we managed to hail a taxi and the ride took over 10 minutes so the walk would have been a lot longer than 15 minutes.
We wanted to watch the European soccer comp. so called down to the desk to ask what station to put the TV on. You would think this would be a simple question seeing as how the conceirge was watching the game. The answer - we don't know the station, you will have to scroll through the stations on the remote.
Continental breakfast, what a joke! 3 day old croissants, bread rolls and cereal that tasted like chaff. Not a piece of fruit to be seen. We heard one patron ask for hot milk and was told in no uncertain terms that there was a charge on it. The dining room had a very cold feeling about it and we felt we were being watched the whole time we were in there.
In short this stay could of ruined our stay in London but we adapted and overcame, ignored the rudeness, the unhelpfulness and had a great time seeing all the sights.

The location is a real plus..walking distance from queensway and Bayswater underground. Bus stop is on the main street..with direct connections to Oxford street and Picadilly. Believe me, compared to other hotels in this price band, this one is much better. The negatives are that there is no luggage facilities, wifi is not free. However, i found this place called Royal Bayswater Hostel which is 2 min walk from this hotel ( right on the bus stop) which has a really cheap internet access, sell tickets and they also book taxi for you. And of course, being away from the Bayswater underground, this hotel is located in a peaceful area and you can start your day by a walk in the kensington gardens which is opposite the hotel.. I would go back again, irrespective of the indifferent staff

My new husband and I decided to travel through Europe for our honeymoon and London was our first stop. It's a bit of a drive from London-Heathrow (about 30 minutes), but the hotel is in a good location. Located in central London, Central Park Hotel is a couple of blocks from Hyde Park where you can visit Kensington Palace and Gardens. A 5-7 minute walk takes you to Bayswater where you'll find a variety of stores and restaurants as well as two Underground stations.

When we checked into the hotel, we were less than impressed by the front desk staff who seemed indifferent to us. We weren't exactly expecting a welcoming party, but a smile would have been lovely! A couple of times during our stay we stopped by the front desk with questions and each employee we talked to had the same indifferent attitude.

The room itself was average - clean, but certainly no bells and whistles. The bathroom was small (by American standards), but fine. My only complaint about the room was that it did not have A/C. We had to sleep with the windows open and since it was April, we were able to keep the room cool (I did notice some mold on the ceiling near the top of the window). The downside, however, was the street noise. The bed is positioned directly under the window so there was no escaping the sounds of central London!

Good place to stay if you're just looking for a place to stay!
