“Great hotel and location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2013 via mobile

Our first time in London and we happened on a really great hotel in a very convenient location in the Marriott Grosvenor Square. The staff is very welcoming and efficient. We used the concierge service several times and found them to be wonderful to work with. The rooms are well appointed and fairly good sized. The Maze and Maze Grille are very good indeed. We really enjoyed the Luggage Bar (excellent martinis!). It is very close to Oxford Street and the Bond Street tube station so getting to anyplace in London is easy. We will stay there on our next trip to London.

Decent sized rooms but small bathrooms, not bad for a central London location. The room rate offers good value for the quality of the hotel and especially its location. The staff are generally of a very high calibre, another pleasant surprise in London where standards have dropped of late in many hotels. Would certainly stay again.

A solid part of you folks travel to London for shopping activities as well as those of you who are foodie like visit this city quite often. And what is more rewarding for all of you like above described than leave hotel entrance and right away enter Selfridges? I think that as far as location is concerned (for those described of course) this is the best place in London. Apart from that the hotel is quite cosy, comfy as all Marriott labelled comfy hotels are. The stuff is really helpful and totally polite and professional. They got really fine bar downstairs called Luggage Room, worth popping in when coming back after a dinner at nearby top notch restaurants. For those travelling with need for taking care about being constantly fit as I am they got absolutely professional gym where you can basically do any work out you imagine. What is what somehow spoilt my review is the room design which is so simple and tasteless that you wonder why they decide to make it that way but still - de gustibus non discutantum est - at least the got so lavishly comfy beds : )

Room Tip: Ask for rooms overlooking backyard.

My wife and I just returned from a week stay at this property. On Grosvenor Square and two minutes from Oxford Street, the location is central to the best shopping in London. Our standard king room was comfortable, if not large, overlooking the inner courtyard. The bathroom was maneuverable and nicely-appointed with towels in abundance. Overall, the room was clean and well-maintained. Only the closet area was extremely limited, although there was plenty of drawer space.

The best feature of the hotel is the staff. Beginning with the front desk at check-in, through the housekeeping and room service staff, everyone is extremely accommodating. Whereas the hotel normally charges a hefty 20GBP for in-room WiFi per 24 hours, the pleasant desk staff member was kind enough to include it for free. Our advise: it's worth asking for. A special mention to Aileen, who came up to our room to help resolve a connectivity issue with our iPad. Other examples include prompt make-up of the room - even when we went out late - and the arrival of an engineer to help adjust the thermostat. If you like sleeping in a cool room consider opening the window a smidge, as the room gets a bit stuffy with the heating on.

Our only real criticism is our one experience with room service food. An expensive "classic BLT" arrived with a sliver of bacon, a paper-thin slice of tomato, and a speck of lettuce. In total, the filling took up no more than one-third of the space. Indeed, a "sad BLT" would be a more apt name for it.

Overall, if one can get an attractive room rate for this property, we would recommend it as being good value for the money. We would consider it a first choice on a return visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from outside construction.

From the moment we arrived, staff were excellent, welcoming, friendly, helpful. Warm greetings, smiles all around. Location can't be beat, rooms good size, for London, and club lounge nice as well. Dinner at both Maze and Maze grille excellent. Luggage bar very enjoyable.

We must not have wanted to leave, since we arrived at heathrow without our passports! After 20 years of business travel around the world, I walked out without my passport and without my wife's.

I called back to the hotel and asked if they could help. I suggested meeting at paddington. Harry, the duty concierge, who had already helped us get tickets to see Rowan Atkinson in the west end and dinner reservations, Suggested I forgo the trip into London and he would retrieve the passports and have them sent by taxi to us in the terminal. Harry said by 9:15 and they arrived at 9:10, safe and sound. We made our flight home and can only thank the wonderful staff, but Harry in particular, who called us at 9:15 to confirm we were ok.

Bravo marriott, bravo Harry. We owe you a great debt and shan't forget your kindness.

This is one platinum member whose loyalty is solidified by such great service.

Nice location, confortable room with a big size for London standards.
Clean hotel and effective staff at the lobby.
The WiFi is quite expensive (20GBP for 24h) and the breakfast is also quite expensive. But I guess this is part of the business model of the hotel: attracting customers on decent room rate and then generating income through additional services.

This hotel was recommended to me by a friend. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The suite I reserved was a two room corner suite that gave me and my family access to the lounge for breakfast and free drinks during the day which was and added value. The Internet access was not complementary.

Location wise it was excellent for the family shopping activities. It's off Oxford St. very close to Selfridges.
