There are good and bad things about this hotel. My experience was this:

Wifi not free. Very inconvenient and unexpected for a hotel of this size. Toilet didnt flush and the room was so hot we couldn't sleep. The temperature was set to the coldest, low but still the warm air didnt chill (at all). Obviously the window didn't open and because there was no bottled water in the room we did not leave feeling refreshed and ready for the day.

However,

The food was fantastic. There is a chinese restaurant, good value prices and chinese food available as room service which I appreciated. The brasserie was nice, good food in there too and if your lucky enough to be a silver member or have a room with an upgrade you can eat/drink in the hotel 'Club' lounge. Breakfast was included and served in two rooms. There was a good selection of hot/cold food including a menu service if you wanted something different (omletter etc). Staff were attentive, the lobby had a large gift shop, concierge and a theatre booking service. Check out at 12 is great, there was a fridge (chilled but empty) and in-room movies. If you want an in-room safe there is an additional charge and duvets are very, very thin on account of how hot the rooms are!

This hotel is very smart, clean and spacious. Its in a lovely, busy, vibrant part of London with Boots, big Marks & Spencer, Cafe Nero, many restaurants around the hotel (EMI records and Bill Wyman's "Sticky Fingers" Rolling Stones bar). There were plenty of taxis because the Copthorne Tara is next to a couple of other large hotels and the tube is at the end of the hotel road. Very convenient.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your list of mixed feelings. I am pleased to see that you listed all the positives and that these outdid the list of negatives so that you still were able to have an enjoyable stay.

I have referred the points you raised with the problematic toilet and air con in your room to our Maintenance Manager and Executive Housekeeper to investigate and ensure this does not occur in the future, and I apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused during your stay. In future may I suggest you report such incidents to our Duty Manager so that we can log the issues and can deal with such immediately to ensure your comforts for the duration of your stay, as our guests should not need to contend with such issues but should enjoy. We always try to put in all our effort to provide good services with every intention of pleasing all our guests.

For information, some of the rooms are facing the tube station and to keep out the noise from the moving trains, the windows are sealed and double glazed and unable to open. For future bookings please note that you can request a room with windows that can open, which are on the West side of the hotel.

It is good to see your positive mentions that the hotel is conveniently located in the area to most places of interest, our staff provided excellent customer services, the hotel provided high quality services and facilities all around and all was to your expectation. Our Hotel Team thank you with much appreciation.

In light of this I am sure you will be returning in the near future and we look forward to welcoming you back.

Yours sincerely

This was a good place to stay to visit London exhibitions. We enjoyed evening walk round Holland Park - access beside the church. Staff were excellent always. Breakfast OK but could do with more fresh fruit. Room nice and quiet (6010) but bathroom needs refurbishment now. Negative point - I had no bedside table, and floor is a long long way down to get water, reading glasses etc!!

Room Tip: Be careful not to be next to the underground train. We moved rooms at once.

No way is this a 4 star hotel. It seems to be running on a tight budget, with it's very own austerity measures.
It's usually a joy to breakfast in a 4 star, but here it's dismal. The continental buffet was pretty poor with not a lot of choice. There is an unpleasant, stale, junky-food smell in the breakfast room, probably from the bar food the evening before.
We had a great week-end in London, but not much of it due to the hotel. Very disappointing.

Fast check-in, a decent-sized room (855) with a comfortable bed and a good shower. No traffic noise. The room could do with decorating and was a tad shabby. Teamaker without biscuits, no free water and no minibar. No free wireless in rooms (costs £10 per day). No safe. The air-conditioning struggled to get down to a comfortable nighttime temperature, and other guests confirmed this impression. Weirdly, I was advised by the receptionist at check-in not to take breakfast between 0630 and 0830 as there would be 1000 guests and long delays. As I didn't want to get up early, and my work started at 0830, that de facto meant no breakfast although it had been paid for in advance. 3 minutes walk from High Street Kensington tube station is good, though that is not the most convenient of tube stations for places like the West End.
I can't comment on value for money, as the congress organizers paid for my room.

Frankly we stayed here because we got a very good deal and it is excellently situated.

The room was clean although basic.

We had access to the club and the breakfast was perfectly good.

Perfectly satisfactory

We spent a Saturday night here on a Superbreak deal and I have to say it was great. The staff were very helpful. The room was spacious and clean and we had everything we could need. It was very quiet and stress free. The breakfast was also very good with a wide choice of cooked and fresh fruit and pastries available and plenty of tea and coffee.
It is literally 3 minutes walk from Kensington High Street Tube and easy to find.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling down to London for a few days.
