“Nice room, nice people”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

We weren't sure what to expect, but we were very pleasantly surprised. The room was a little small, but nice. The bed was large and comfortable, the bathroom clean with a tub and shower. Every question we had was promptly answered and/or taken care of. The concierge was very helpful. The location was excellent, with the tube nearby and many restaurants & places to get groceries just across the street. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Don't know about any other rooms. Ours was on the second floor in the front with a view of Crom...

We stopped at this hotel for one night and found our stay pleasant with no problems experienced at all.

This is a large hotel and is brilliantly placed for Nat His Museums etc and Gloucester Rd tube is a couple of mins walk.

Our room was on the second floor (over the entrance) and was a reasonable sized double room (bathroom was small but was clean and served it's purpose). Room has secondary glazing and blocks out the sound of traffic well. Room also had a built in wardrobe, flat screen tv, mini bar (unstocked), arm chair and dressing table and chair. Bed was comfortable with a choice of firm or soft pillows.

The hotel has a restaurant and bar on site (traditional pub - also serves food) - A pint of guinness and medium glass of wine came to £10.95, two double whiskies came to just under £20.00!

We decided to eat at Lorenzo's Vecchiomondo restaurant which is situatated on Cromwell Road opposite the hotel (to the left) - we were made to feel very welcome and had a delicious three course meal with wine. Worth a visit. Ask Restaurant is also in very close proximity to the hotel.

We also had breakfast at the hotel during our stay. Bufffet style with plenty of choice (continental, cereals, fruit or full english). Food was cooked well and was very tasty. Seemed a very organised restaurant.

All staff were very friendly and polite and made us feel welcome.

Room Tip: Rooms the same side as the hotel entrance should be quieter as the entrance does not face the Cromwe...

Stayed two nights at the beginning and ending of a trip to England. The first stay was in a cramped 4th floor room with a pullout sofa for my son which was very uncomfortable. The second was a 9th floor triple with an actual bed for my son, much more comfortable and a little roomier. That being said, both times we received courteous service at checkin and once were accommodated early as well. The location was great. Not the Ritz, but we received a good deal as part of a British Airways package and it did include a pretty good (although crowded) breakfast.

Room Tip: High floors facing the city are better -- on the 4th floor we could hear someone yelling loudly on t...

Stayed here for business event I had to attend in the hotel. I must say I expected way better for a 4* firstly bath was dirty with hair in it. Didn't have a kettle in room and ask for one and never came. If you needed anything it will take for ever. Breakfast was expensive and don't eat raw egg and there was a 20 minute wait for an omelette!! So didn't eat anything in the end! Wouldn't stay here again!

This is a huge hotel, 28 stories and hundreds of rooms. The lobby is busy and bustling with tour groups and airline crews coming and going. Despite this "hectivity" the reception staff and concierge are very friendly and helpful. Our room was quiet, on the small side, but well thought out, comfortable, contemporary, efficient, and attractive. The hotel is in a great location, just a block away from the Gloucester Road tube station, with fast access to most major tourist attractions. The Museum of Natural History and Victoria and Albert Museum are a short walk away, as are many restaurants. Try The Patisserie, across from Gloucester Road station, for breakfast instead paying 11 pounds per person at the hotel.

I booked the hotel for myself and my son via booking.com, and this was the cheapest-per-day and still reasonably central option. Being close to the tube was important, long walks are a sure way to sour the day if you travel with kids. Get an oyster card for yourself, and preorder a zip photo card for the kids to make it easier to travel, you can pick it up at the airport or locations in the city.

There is absolutely no problem spending a lot of money on "extras" at this hotel if you want to, but if you want to keep the price down, you ignore the hotel options and go for breakfast in the surrounding area (there is fast food and at least two "full english" options, as well as two grocery stores), and get a prepaid data card instead of the hotel internet. There are vending machines at Heathrow selling refillable data sim cards.

In general, we don't use "services" at the hotels we stay at, so I'm actually happy that they charge extra for it, and keep the per night price lower.

Our room had a heater/air conditioner, which solved the problem with drafty single-pane windows.

Actually this is a good hotel at great location if the price is not that high and not too crowded at breakfast hours. Should get breakfast early in the morning, best beetwen 06-06.30 am to avoid the long queue.
The room, of course, is small like other hotels in London. Always have problem when using the keyroom card and had to go back to the receptionist several time to reset the keyroom card. Really wasting time, especially if you stay on higher level.
The best thing is location. Easy access for bus and tube. The bus stop is at the back of the hotel, on cromwell street. The nearest tube station just 200m (gloucester road). There is also tesco minimarket accross this tube station. For bigger supermarket, there is Sainsbury at cromwell road near this hotel. But if you bring big luggage, better get off at earl's court tube station. Not the gloucester road station, because it's not luggage friendly. No elevator. Only stairway and a lot of it!
And for family with children, the museums are walkable. Every museums in London are free. But beware of long queue at natural history museum, especially when there is a group of school students.
