“real value for the money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2013

I've been using this hotel many times on my trips to London, and almost always got a comfortable room which made me feel relaxed. Although it has many rooms, and many guests come and go, you still feel that you are treated like a real 'guest'. Needless to say, that the area surrounding the hotel, has nice restaurants, and a very useful supermarket. To summarize, it is a hotel I would like to bring my wife to.

Room Tip: you should ask for non-smoking rooms if you don't smoke.

Have just returned from a 4 night break at this hotel. Cannot recommend it enough for a trip to the capital - particularly if your some of your main 'to do's' are the Museums. The hotel is a 3min walk from Gloucester Road tube station and within 10mins walk of Natural History, Science and V&A museums. There are also some great value restaurants and cafes in the area (not just your high end establishments!) - particularly in the residential area opposite the Natural History museum. As for the hotel itself it was immaculately clean, public areas spacious and friendly, bedrooms reasonble size and again all v.v.clean - functional and comfy. Would recommend that you go for breakfast included - there was an amazing hot and cold buffet selection with fresh tea/coffee served at the table. We found that there was so much choice it 'set us up' for the day so proved to be great value. The tube at Gloucester Road is on the Picaddilly Line so easy to get around all other areas of London. Again recommend that you purchase an Oyster Card for getting around during your trip - made it so much easier than individual tickets all the time and any money left on the card is refunded when you return the card at the end of your visit. What else can I say - except we will most definitely be using this hotel for any future trips.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the higher floors - always a good idea when in a main city!

The room is not bad. I wasn't feeling well when I was at London, so I felt the bed was extra comfortable, I could hardly drag my lazy bones away from the soft and fluffy bed. The view outside my room is amazing too.

2mins away from the Gloucester Rd metro stop. Located in a nice area with pubs & restaurants around - Tesco is also very close... You can easily catch the London tour red double-deckers when you get on the main road.

Basically this is a huge hotel with lots & lots of rooms, and standard rooms are just OK; no problem with heating - don't expect too much. Good breakfast in a cosy atmosphere. Convenient luggage storage room once you get out of the hotel...

Room Tip: request a high-floor room to get a better view of the city

Having stayed previously without issues I was disappointed this time.
On check in I was asked to explain why I had requested that room type ( twin non smoking for 2 people) as they didn't have enough of the rooms! I was kept waiting at the desk for 45 minutes while they looked for a room despite booking several months ahead.
The service in the restaurant was poor, slow and kept us waiting for a long time. We were shoved in a corner and despite asking to move as it was very cold. They took 45 minutes after finishing to clear our table. Then tried adding a 10% service charge,
The hotel resembled an airport terminal throughout the stay with guests luggage every where from coach parties. The best part was leaving the hotel!

I have stayed in a few Holiday Inn hotels and this was far the best.
Excellent check in service was received, staff very helpful and polite.
It’s in a prime location, shops, restaurants, bars just around the corner. The tube station (Gloucester Road) is only a 5 minute walk away.
The rooms are very standard for holiday inn but are clean and very comfortable and meet my needs for a couple of nights away.
Would consider staying here on my next return to London if the price is right.

In general, London is a complete rip off for hotels, overpriced for not a lot.

First stay at this hotel, I'll go back. Although the rooms are small they are adequate for a short stay. The shower was not that good, very little water emerging. The room heating and cooling controls worked great, no problem there. The breakfast was great, everything you want and the tables were cleaned very quickly and service was very very good and the choice was fine, something for everyone. A nice pub attached to the hotel and not that expensive by London standards.
