“Best-kept secret at Sloane Square!”

Partridges Food Market
Ranked #99 of 776 Shopping in London

Partridges is such a great traditional store (with a little cafe too), that reminds me of Whole Foods at the same time as being very British. It stocks highly priced American goods aimed at the very affluent US expatriates living in the surrounding area, and it's great to browse at these items that are hard to get here. £8 for a box of breakfast cereal is admittedly insane, but it's fun to buy the odd cheaper item. The deli and bakery counters here are amazing, and it's especially magical at Christmas time with all the stollens and European treats.

My wife and I had a light lunch in the shop's small cafe. My wife's quiche was very good, but my warm beef sandwich was absolutely wonderful. Both were £6.50 each; we were very well fed. We will definitely go back. The food store sells wonderful (but rather expensive) produce.

Like a good Whole Foods, except cozier. The one near Gloucester Road station is nowhere as good as the one near Sloane Square. Eat-in or take-away.

Both the market stalls out front and Partridges proper are absolutely indispensable -- especially if you're vacationing at a home stay in Chelsea. I was staying in an apartment on Lower Sloane and visited Partridges daily for cheese, fruit, bread, milk, fresh juice, and prepared meals. You name it, they have it -- all packed into a relatively small but well-laid out space. And the cafe is super too, and extremely convenient.

If you are visiting Sloane Square, Sloane Street, Kings Road, Peter Jones department store make sure you go into Partridge's. They even sell Snowdonia Cheddar Cheese and that to me is a big plus for any establishment. Great for wealthy people watching too!
