“Fantastic location in London”
Reviewed June 24, 2014

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights on a business trip, but accompanied by my wife. We found the hotel to be excellently located around the corner from Tottenham Court Road tube station and very easy to get to. The room was ideal for our needs and had a good view over London. Breakfast was good and we found the hotel to be a good base for me to get to my meetings and my wife to meet friends. The only annoying factor was that the lifts seemed rather slow and erratic. We would stay here again.

and its no better on the inside! the east block is like a prison cell, worn and tatty very small, the bed is uncomfortable and the air conditioning is a fan on top of the wardrobe! The staff did not impress on checking too bust talking with each other rather than provide a service! breakfast was not good and the small corridor to the room is like something from the sixties. go elsewhere

I don't like complaining but I feel as though this is something I cannot ignore. I'll begin with the good points; the location was great, close to all the shops etc, and buffet breakfast had a good selection but not so much for vegetarians. Concierge were very friendly at the front desk. The 24 hour diner was great.

Unfortunately that is where my praises end. My single room for one night was not very clean, neither was my mother's. First thing I discovered was a quick moving red/brown insect on the drinks tray and thought this was a one off, but this was not the case. many of these insects which i suspect are bedbugs were crawling over the bedside desk, information booklet, drinks tray and even on the bathroom floor and toilet handle. Bed sheets where badly stained. my mother's room however although both of our bathrooms were not clean with hairs in the shower and various stains, her room did not appear to have the same infestation as mines did. I was also quite disappointed with the willingness of the reception desk staff to help an elderly lady calling for assistance to work the lobby telephones, staff just continued to stand behind the desk ignoring her whilst not tending to any other guests, to which when I asked a member of staff to help her she was quite rude and I was quite taken aback.

Unfortunately my stay at St. Giles put a dampener on my get away trip with my mother,
my first and last stay at St. Giles.

A good central location. The staff are friendly arrived before standard checking time and was told my room was already sorted. The room i had was on the 3rd floor no small mini bar or fridge which would have been nice but no worries. An electric fan is provided if room gets warm ,these hotels are quite old so not all rooms come with air con. Overall a good hotel to stay in for an easy access to underground st, and just off oxford street i wouls stay again .

I was introduced to the St Giles by friends who'd stayed there before .... I will be staying there again!
It is located just off the Tottenham Court Rd & Oxford St, so it's perfectly placed for shopping, theaters and right next to a tube station which can get you just about anywhere.
I found it a bit quirky, but pleasantly so. They have a deal with the restaurant next door (accessed by a door next to the concierge desk), which entitles you to a free breakfast if you choose an executive room. There is also a breakfast bar if you prefer a quick croissant, coffee & run. There are also many restaurants of various persuasions very close.
My room was quite spacious, and so was the bathroom. I did not like the idea of the door key being used to operate the lights. I realize this is done to conserve energy, but it is difficult to find the slot for the card key when opening the door into a dark room!!
The staff were very efficient if not particularly friendly.
I would certainly recommend the St. Giles.

Every year we come back to this hotel and have a fantastic time! The staff are friendly helpful. The hotel rooms ain't massive but they don't need to be. The hotel is centrally located and it's perfect to visit all popular landmarks.
The Hudson's house bar located in hotel is brilliant great staff. We will be back next year

Have stayed at this hotel numerous times when visiting London. The location is excellent, two minutes from Tottenham Court Road tube station and round the corner from Oxford Street so you aren't far from bars/restaurants.

The reception area is very welcoming with friendly and efficient staff. The rooms are very small but clean, and the bathroom is also very small with not much room to move about it, but again very clean. The rooms can be a bit noisy depending on which side of the hotel you are situated. But given the location and price, you can't really complain. Wifi available at £10 for 24 hours.

Breakfast is the standard affair. Cooked English breakfast, cereals, fresh fruits all available as well as tea/coffee/fruit juice. I usually go for the cooked food which is tasty and always hot. Only gripe is that it can get busy at peak times and you cannot always find a table. So unless you want to go for breakfast at 7am, you may struggle!

No complains with this hotel, and have already booked for another visit in November, which I am looking forward to!
