We spent 2 nights here and it was perfectly located for London theatres and walking to the major sites. The offer of a free underground in zone 1 was very useful. The room was basic but immaculate and beautifully clean. The staff went out of their ways to be helpful.
We would definitely go back if we can get a good deal again.

I have stayed here before. The hotel is in a great position and is clean and comfortable. The rates are usually good too. However, on this occasion I was staying with 3 colleagues. I had made the reservation for all of us and wanted the hotel to charge my credit card for all 4 rooms. I called Reservations and spoke to a very abrupt lady who told me that I would have to send an email. I did - with all the details she had asked for - and got this response: 'Thank you for the e-mail. Sorry but which credit card are you referring to ? If it is the one used at the time of making the bookings then please confirm this or the last four digits of the credit card.'
I responded with the required information but when we got to the hotel, the receptionist had to link all the bookings - nothing had been done by the Reservations team. Coupled with the slow speed of check in and a very long queue, this was disappointing.
I did have breakfast at the hotel for the first time - food was hot, tasty and well presented but the layout of the carvery is horrible - lines of tables - really 'clinical'.
So the Strand Palace has some great points, but needs to up its game on others

Strand hotel was a good hotel. Room was fairly small but nice and clean. Lots of construction near hotel which doesn't look too great. Lots of shops nearby - tesco, superdrug etc. Close to Covent Garden shops and restaurants.

The title says it all. Stayed here for 2 nights on the way back to Aberdeen from the Maldives. We chose it because of tghe area (Charring Cross, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Picadilly, Soho all within 5 minutes walk), so it didn't disappoint on that score.
However the rooms were very small, although they were clean, had a nice bathroom (great shower), complimentary bottles af water as well as the tea/coffee making facilities, room safe etc. Comfy, but small bed.
The hotel itself had a decent business centre with 3 computer screens for guest use (free of charge). They did have wi-fi also which was free for 30 minutes, then chargeable. Didn't eat at the hotel as there are heaps of places for breakfast, lunch and dinner very close by at a lot more reasonable prices than the hotel charged (£15 for breakfast etc).
All in all, good base for proximity to some of the great areas in London.
Would probably stay here again, but only on a good room deal.

My friend and I had a lovely weekend stay at the Srand Palace in London it has a great location right in the heart of London and within walking distance of shows like Mama Mia, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Top Hat to name but a few. It is a modern style of hotel. Our room was on the small side but adequate for a short stay and like the rest of the hotel was spotless. There are 4 places within the hotel that you can eat and drink, using your wine and dine card, an Indian restuarant, a carvery, a lounge bar and a bar. The wine and dine card cost us £50 each for 2 days and that included all our meals and as much wine, beer and soft drinks as we could manage the food is great and it is such an good deal we couldn't quite believe it! All in all a great place to stay and would recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for a large room.

Hotel is 5 minutes away from Charing Cross, which is great. Walls are extremely thin, and we heard every single word our neighbours were saying, and unfortunately doing. Bed were hard, but it is a clean, central hotel.

Opposite the hotel is Gordon Ramsay's Savoy Grill in Savoy Hotel.

My wife and I stayed here for two days three weeks ago .The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpefull .Our room was very small ,bit stuffy and we could not open the windows , hate to think of how hot it would get in the summer as there was no air conditioning . We had breakfast at 9-30 on the first morning and unfortunately the "hot" options were just warm and the tea was cold , the following morning was an improvement . The big plus for this hotel is its locatiion ,everywhere is within easy reach including theatre land , underground stations and of course Covent Garden . We would stay here again not because of the rooms or he breakfast but because of its location .
