“Excellent Location for Theatreland”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

Stayed at The Strand Palace Hotel for three nights in March 2013. This was my 4th stay in this hotel and I have no complaints. The hotel is very central and ideally situated for the West End Theatreland, Covent Gardens, Leicester Square and Oxford Street shopping - all easily within 10-15 mins walking distance. The hotel is warm, very clean and well kept even though it currently is undergoing some further refurbishment (scaffolding outside). The staff are excellent - friendly, polite and accommodate whatever requests you have. Breakfasts are plentiful with everything from porridge to cold meats, fresh fruit to croissants and cooked foods to satisfy even the most hungry. Always enjoy my annual London trip when I stay with them. Thanks to everyone at The Strand Palace!

We've stayed here two Christmas/New Years in the last four. Central to the West End theaters, Covent Garden is out the back door. It's a four minute walk to Trafalgar Square, a further 15 minutes down Whitehall to Parliament and Westminster Abby. It's a 10 minute walk to Leicester Square and a further 4 to Piccadilly Circus. The round trip up the Strand to St. Paul's and back by the Embankment is less than an hour.

This is a big busy hotel, but the rooms are clean and look recently remodeled. You can get some wonderful pricing if you look at the right time. Despite the size, check in and out are easy. Service is above average.

We had an overnight stay for an impromptu visit to London. The rooms are very compact with a very small bathroom, but are ideal for an overnight stay. Very clean and modern decor, i thought the bed was comfy but my partner said it was too firm (definitely a harder mattress than some) The bathroom was very clean and modern - sink, toilet, shower (no bath). A small wardrobe, tea and coffe making facilities and a television. Great shutters to block out the light and very little noise from outside, but you can hear conversations in surrounding rooms.
The hotel is currently undergoing exterior renovation and is covered in scaffolding. once you step through the lobby doors none of this is evident. It is a Tardis of a building with a large reception area and a maze of corridors off to the many rooms. All public areaswere immaculately clean and modern.
The hotel is just round the corner from the Waldorf and across the road from the Savoy. Ideally situated for the West End and Covent Garden.
I would recommend this hotel for a business trip, or a quick shopping trip / theatre visit. Great value for central london, clean, fresh and compact.

I stayed with work on a Monday evening. The hotel was a quick walk from covent garden tube station & was positioned right on the strand in the heart of theatre land. Check in was efficient and I was pleasantly surprised that I'd been upgraded from a double to a kingsize. The room was well appointed. It had a large kingsize bed, modern fixtures & fittings with clean modern bathroom. The room was a corner one and a certainly didn't suffer from neighbour noise as suggested by some other reviewers. I ordered room service which arrived within 30 mins. Breakfast wasn't included in my rate which possibly made it pricey for 1 night but that will have been driven through location. Staff were very helpful and it seemed as though the hotel has a lot to offer in the way of bars & hotels. Will definitely look at this hotel for my next social trip to London.

Had to change rooms 2 times. Burned my head on the light in the shower (very low) and were moved to a room opposite a construction side. second time to a room beneath the laundry room that has alarms going from 06.00. Good location thow...

Having recently refurbished the hotel, our team members are trained to provide guests with the best possible room upon any request, however it is difficult sometimes to provide similar specifications of rooms. Errors happen rarely however our Duty Managers are dedicated throughout the day to ensure that they find a satisfactory solution to ensure all our guests experience a satisfactory, value for money stay, if issues are brought to their attention.

The saying goes location location location... yes this hotel is in a fantastic location but its much more than that.. I've stayed at this hotel half a dozen times now for both work and personal and each time I'm left wondering why it's only a three star. Check in was quick and efficient, rooms have clearly had a makeover recently and are of a good standard. A great base from which to explore London if you're here on vacation or a great place to stay if you're in London on business. It's my number one hotel of choice when visiting London!!

The hotel has a great location - 5 min on foot from Trafalgar Square. There are a lot of underground stations withiin walking distance. Just 20 min on foot till Victoria Station.
This 3-star hotel has 800 rooms and is considered one of the best 3* hotels of London.
Very good breakfast for 3 star hotel - a lot of fresh fruits, different kind of egss, hams, sausages.
You can ask for bathrobes together with slippers if you want to have it in your room.
Very nice toiletries and bed linen.

Room Tip: Rooms to the Strand Street are a bit noisy, so ask for the rooms to the opposite side. IMPORTANT...
