The Strand Palace Hotel is well located within walking distance of Trafalgar Square, close to both Temple and Charing Cross tube stations. There is a multitude of food options just down the block.

Our family stayed one night, and although there was a problem with the size of our room, it was quickly fixed and we were quite pleased. If you get an executive room, there is a fold out sofa bed for children, but it is maybe only the size of a double bed.

When we checked, we were able to leave our luggage for free, however when we checked out, we had to pay 2 pounds per bag(even backpack size). The breakfast that came with our room was quite good. There was a nice selection in the continental breakfast that was already laid out on a self serve area, but we were also able to order from the menu - a hot cooked breakfast.

The concierge serice was quite helpful for getting transportation suggestions, such as which tube or bus to take to certain sites.

I have just returned from a trip in Europe which started and finished with me staying at the Strand Palace hotel. First time for 4 nights and then 3 nights. At the start of my trip I was on my own and had a standard single room including breakfast on the return I was in a double club room without breakfast. Firstly I will say that the location of the hotel is amazing. Around 8 minutes walk from Covent Garden (Piccadilly Line so direct to Heathrow) and about 15 minute walk from Charring Cross/Lester Square stations. The hotel is directly across from the Savoy and although there are renovations going on they didn't disturb us. The hotel had a comprehensive tour desk that offered various tours including line jump tours of the palace. Compared to other hotels in the area the Strand Palace is really affordable. On my first visit I booked through booking.com and called to check if early check in was available it was and I was in my room by 11. My second stay was booked through booking.com however check in was on a Sunday and we again arrived early. I was offered an upgrade at £25 per night and could check in to the room straight away or wait for a room to become available, as I was in desperate need of sleep I took the upgrade and didn't regret it. The only downside to the hotel is that there is no air conditioning in the room at all and it can get a little warm however fans are provided in each room and also there doesn't seem to be much sound insulation and you can hear much of what goes on in the surrounding rooms both good and bad. I would defiantly stay at the hotel again for location and value. The breakfast was great, lots of variety however it gets very busy between 8 and 9.30 with long lines for the hot food. This Could be fixed by the hotel arranging a system of two lines one for hot and one for cold.

I stayed here with my husband for 2 nights at the end of September and will definitely stay here again purely for its location, it is central for shopping in Oxford Street and just a short bus or tube ride away! It is in Covent Garden which is great for shopping too and in my opinion very unique, i love it. We saw a show why we were here and it is only a 10/15 minute walk to Leceister Square and ideally placed for all the West End theatres! The rooms are nothing special but have everything required for a short stay and are very clean! Breakfast was self service and a good choice for all nationalities and all staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived before the 2pm check in time but the receptionist said he would do his best to find us a room which he did so we were very pleased. We used this hotel purely as somewhere to sleep as we were out day and night but I would have no hesitation in booking again, we booked as a package including train fares, room and show which seemed to be the best deal!

Room Tip: Request a room at the back of the hotel as we stayed at the front and it is quite noisy at night.

A well situated hotel for covent garden and the theatres all within a few minutes walk, We had a twin room which was a decent size with nice size shower room, Breakfast was self service and there was plenty of choice. Bags can be stored free on day of arrival if you are early and cost £2 an item on day of departure. We have stayed here before and will certainly return as reasonably priced for central London.

The hotel could hardly be in a better location, just a few minutes walk away from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and the west end theatres. The rooms are very comfortable if a bit on the small side. We had a meal at the carvery whilst there which was nothing special. What really spoiled our stay was being charged £2 per item of luggage for storage on our day of departure. We've stayed in hotels all over the world and have never had to pay such a charge previously. The hotel is being renovated and part of the cost is obviously being levied on customers through these sorts of charges. Will try elsewhere the next time in London.

Great location near Charing Cross and Covent Garden. The hotel is quite large and the inside is really nice. We ate here for a xmas do and stayed over night i think we got a deal and if the price is right i would def stay again. Yes there are better plusher hotels but i would advise checking it out ... if the price is right ...

My wife and I stayed here in September, as it was central to the locations we were visiting. In fact there is so much to do here, Covent Garden is behind the Hotel, with the Opera House, museums, and restaurants. Numerous buses run past the door, and the Underground and Mainline Station are a 5 minute walk. Trafalger Square and the Art Galleries are only 5-7 minutes walk.
Our Hotel room booked only two days before lacked a view from the window, but it was very quiet and a good sized room. The Hotel was full, but the corridors were very quiet. Our room appeared to have been recently refurbished, and was bright and modern with a lovely bathroom.
We had an excellent buffet breakfast in a busy dining room. We thought for Central London, that the room rate was not expensive. We will definitely stay here again, ideally nearer to Christmas.

Room Tip: inner rooms are very quiet. We preferred the higher floors, although at busy times you may wait a fe...
