“Great two nights”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

My wife and I stayed for two nights to see a couple of shows and to have afternoon tea at the Connaught. Arrived two hours early for check in but no problem as our room was ready. Booked an exec room which was very spacious, comfy bed although the pillows left a lot to be desired. Please address this as we would like to stay again. The famous breakfast buffet was as usual delicious and plentiful. The location of this hotel is spot on, being just 5 minutes from Trafalgar Square one way and Piccadilly Circus the other way. Staff are very helpful and attentive. Thanks for a great two nights and hope to see you in the future.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for an Executive room, well worth it

The Royal Trafalgar is around the corner and a 2 minute walk from Trafalgar Square thus it is close but on a comparatively quiet street. Its location makes it perfect for tourists and nit is close to both the Leicester Square and Charing Cross Tube Stations. It is also close to Regent St, Piccadilly Square and the theatre district. Much upgraded since our last visit--so also are the room rates. The rooms are small by American standards but adequate and typical for London. This is our fifth visit to this hotel because of location, quality and price.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the back facing the National Gallery. No view but quieter

Fantastic location in Central London, quiet side street. Friendly efficient staff.
Nice spacious room. Good breakfast.
Bed was comfortable, BUT the pillows (all 6 of them) were horrible, fully of lumpy bits of foam !
Didn't sleep well as a result
otherwise great !

Room Tip: room 312 was very quiet, no view but at not overlooked.

The only problem is the standard rooms are very very small.
and the water in the shower weren't hot enough.
BUT ! The hotel is located in a great place!!!!
the service is great. The crew is very nice and helpful.
The breakfast is good. The place is very clean. the loby has a good and calming smell which makes you calm down after the crowded city.
I would say, that the standard room is good for a solo travel. For 2 people it was small....

Room Tip: Standard room is good for 1 person, or if you are planning to get to your room only for sleeping it...

I understand the enthusiasm for this hotel. Its location, just off Trafalgar Square but on a quiet side street, is wonderful, whether you like to walk everywhere or want quick access to public transportation. The rooms are clean if not very big, the beds comfy, and I wish I had this shower at home. If you get a good price here (check out the advance-pay rates), I highly recommend it.

But if I'd paid a regular rate, in the £300 ($480)/nt range for our executive king (with breakfast), I would not have been pleased. The service was very uneven. Breakfast was mediocre. Want washcloths? Specially request them every day. My impression is that the the hotel offers some amenities in order to get a 4-star rating, but doesn't fully deliver them, such as gym "access" (costs around $30 per day for an off-site pass) and 24-hour room service (at night they keep a couple of items in the restaurant fridge that reception will microwave for you). These are not make or break elements. You're probably not in London for the room service. Get a good rate, expect a 3-star, and you'll love it.

This hotel is smack in the middle - couldn't wish for a better position . The room was good - modern with everything in it that you would expect . I did write back to them with just two slight niggles
1) The lighting in the bedroom wasn't good enough for the wife to apply the war paint before we went out - well , that was her contribution .
2) The meals at breakfast were great but there wasn't enough room . It was as though they were trying to squeeze too many tables in a small room .
These are just pathetic comments really but ones you might identify with if you stopped there .
On the whole it was a great two day break - one minute's walk northward and you are in Leicester Square and one minute south you are in Trafalgar Square - you can't get any nearer than that .
I would definitely stop here again as you can go round the centre and in two seconds you are home - convenient - no tubes to catch .
Didn't use the Wi Fi - can't comment .
I used Londontown.com and got a good last minute deal - stay here and you won't be dissapointed .

Room Tip: No room preference really .
