We had a one night stay in this hotel in February and we were very pleased. The location was excellent for shopping, sightseeing and the theatre. When you have a short visit to London location is so important and this hotel ticked all the boxes. It was the Chinese New Year when we arrived and a short walk had us in the centre of all the action. We also went to a show and again were able to walk back to our hotel afterwards. In particular we found the staff excellent, they were welcoming, polite and very helpful. We arrived early but our room was ready and we were allowed book in and go up straight away.We also enjoyed a great nights sleep as the hotel was quiet hard to believe it was so central. Our room was warm without being too hot.Overall a very pleasant stay.

We have just come back from a one nights stay to celebrate my Birthday. We booked only a week before and searched on Laterooms but got a much better Easter deal by booking direct online with Thistle so it's always worth checking. We honestly could find no fault from the moment we booked. The situation of the hotel is brilliant for either a Theatre trip or for sight seeing as it is in a quiet street but only a couple of minutes walk from Leicester square, Picadilly Circus and Trafalgar square. We saw two shows and both theatres were less than 5 minutes walk. The staff were all really friendly and helpful and we were very fortunate to be given an upgrade to an executive room and a complimentary bottle of wine. Our room, on the top floor, was quiet with a huge bed and fantastic shower. We had a view of Nelsons Column and the London eye. It was spotless. We ate in the Hotel that night which was very nice although we forgot to use our discount voucher which you are given when you check in. Breakfast was great and being a weekend was on until 11am. There was a wide choice so something for everyone. We would highly recommend this hotel and just wished we could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: Our room was on the top floor and was very quiet for central London.

The Royal Trafalgar by Thistle is a very good hotel for theatre lovers,
It is situated near the most popular theatre halls, as well as to very good restaurants and to the shopping area of Oxford street.

The hotel looks new and modern.
Hotel-personnel is young, very well trained, and very polite.
Rooms are quiet and very clean.
Breakfast is good. Anyhow – on Sunday, the service at the breakfast-hotel-restaurant is slow and less efficient.
At the second day of our stay, the housekeeping personnel has forgot to clean and arrange our room. This was very disappointing.

The Royal Trafalgar by Thistle is very good for couples as well as for businessmen. It is Certainly not a place for kids.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to be fine.

Stayed two nights in March and found the hotel and especially the staff to be excellent. The reception staff were great and so were the bar staff and the lady who manages the breakfast in the morning was superb....they could not do enough for you. The hotel is in an excellent position near all of the theaters and tourist spots. I was on business and will definitely stay again soon.

We just spent 5 nights in this hotel, and overall we were very happy with our stay. The standard rooms are pretty small, so be prepared for that, but they are also very clean and quite modern. We didn't spend much time in the room anyway, so it wasn't that big of a deal for us- but if that is important to you, I would recommend you upgrade. The bed was very comfortable, we had a great night's sleep. A nice sized wardrobe, and a nice television are also in the room. The bathroom was beautiful, with a terrific shower. The staff was always very pleasant, and helpful. We didn't eat or have drinks at the hotel, but the restaurant and the bar both looked very nice.
From the outside, the hotel really doesn't look like much, but it is really pleasant on the inside.

The best feature of the hotel though is without a doubt its fantastic location. It's on a tiny and very quiet little street, yet you are literally right around the corner from the National Gallery and Trafalgar square- a three minute walk, tops. There's loads of cafes and sandwich shops, pubs, and restaurants nearby to choose from. There is a London visitor information centre right there. Buckingham palace is a very pretty 15 to 20 minute walk away (an easy walk to go see the changing of the guard- and here's a tip on that: stand on the left side of the palace as you face it, a lot more happens on that side). There's also many different bus lines passing right by, and a tube station and rail line in Charing Cross, which is less than 10 minutes away. London is an extremely easy city to get around in- they have a fantastic public transportation system; to be honest, it makes New York's look pretty bad (and ours is considered among the best in the States!). Heading in the other direction, Piccadilly Circus is about 10 minutes away- and here's another way to save money if you're interested: take the tube in from Heathrow airport. The Piccadilly line is a straight run in from Heathrow, and only takes about a half an hour or so. Taking the ordinary tube is a fraction of the cost of the express train, and what the heck, you get a chance to see the area as you're coming in.

So, as I said, overall we were very happy with our visit to The Royal Trafalgar, and I would be happy to stay there again.

Room Tip: The standard room is very small to American eyes; if a lot of room is important to you, you might wa...

We stayed one Saturday night, and although we had been told it was in a central location in a quiet backwater we couldn't believe how quiet and how central. We had booked a standard room but had been udgraded to an executive corner room and it was really comortable. We couldn't get the TV to work but someone came up to sort it out immediately and couldn't have been more helpful. The breakfast was very good as well, but my husband asked me to mention that the plates were cold and could have done with being warm! I haven't let his pickiness effect the rating I have given the hotel.

Room Tip: We had room 322 and I would ask for this one again.

Stayed there for 4 nights on vacation. Excellent location just minutes from Trafalgar Square, National Gallery, Piccadilly Circus and the West End. Great restaurant choices in the vicinity.

Rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff are very good. Helpful and know the locality well.

Room Tip: Try for one of the larger rooms if traveling as a couple.
