“Great location but overpriced”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

This hotel is located in the heart of the financial area in London, it has superb views of the Tower Bridge but it results quite overpriced for the quality of the rooms and service.

The windows were quite old and not closing properly, which is not nice in winter!
The best point is its location.

Spent two nights in this lovely hotel. The room reminded me of being on the Orient Express - furniture was all dark wood and the window was actually shaped like a railway carriage window but what a view we were overlooking Tower Bridge and just opposite Butler's Warf it was magic at night. Breakfast was very good lots to eat and we took advantage of their offer of early dining before going to the Theatre. Very convenient to the Underground and of course just around the corner from The Tower of London. All in all a great place to stay.

Super Hotel Brilliant location with Wonderful Views.Stayed for 3 nights recently and could not fault the hotel at all. We had a bargain price with a deluxe upgrade, so we really had good value for money. We booked breakfast at reception for 12 pounds ,and it was as good as you could expect anywhere.Sunday evening we stayed in the hotel for dinner and had a super meal, three courses and a glass of wine for 25pounds.All the staff we encountered were efficient and very friendly.I actually left some clothes behind in the room, but it just took a phonecall, and a few days later the forgotten items were delivered to my home.Thankyou housekeeping. Will certainly stay again, and have already reccomended this Hotel to friends.

Room Tip: ask for tower bridge view

I stayed one night on business, arriving around 9 pm one day and departing before 7 am the next.

Check-in was friendly and fast. My room had a great view of Tower Bridge and was clean and very comfortable.

I ate dinner in the bar on the first floor. Very plush, and the staff were great. Prices are high - posh fish and chips with a beer cost £25, including a mandatory service charge. The meal was fine, not fantastic, and very overpriced so eat elsewhere on St Katherine's Dock.

I had room service breakfast at 6 as the dining room does not open until 6.30. Super!

I would have marked this as an excellent hotel but the room needs a refurbish.
It is in a good location next to the Tower and Tower Bridge and the Tower Tube Station on the District Line is only five minutes walk away.
Staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you and their local knowledge and 'opinion' for our three day leisure stay was invaluable.
Breakfasts were very good and the beds comfy in quiet surrounds.
I will return when the rooms are refurbished.

During any stay at a hotel, problem can happen. But sometimes, their accumulation is just unacceptable. At the Guoman Tower Hotel, we had 2 nights in a freezing cold room - 16°C in the morning, with the heater not working (there is no way to control the temperature in the room, which is set for the whole hotel). After two visit at the front desk, I finally got at 10 pm the last night a portable heater.
But the main problem was the staff, which was simply not reacting to those issues... I request house keeping to pick up a shirt I left in front of the door (outside the room) for clean up, it was forgotten, although I called twice. Then when it finally was picked up, it came on a hanger while I had requested it to be folded. I brought it to the concierge, as requested, and finally when I came back 8 hours later, it was still on the hanger.
Overall, relatively old rooms, extremely expensive (more than £200 a night with a conference discount) with potentially a nice view on the bridge (you will have to pay an extra for it). Location is nice, but very far from the center of the city. More convenient for conference or work at the City. Not recommended, definitively.

Firstly, this hotel met all our requirement, the location is in a great area if you are fit and active, which I was until I over did the walking and got blisters.
The breakfast at either £10 or £12, depending on how you booked, was very very good. But if it was full price £21, I suspect we would have made alternative arrangements.
Our only complaints our that our room was showing signs of age and needed a complete refurbishment. and when you looked out the window the hotels exterior was in desperate need of treatment. The wooden panelling and the lead work outside our windows looked as though it was from the 60's and had nt been treated since. It made the hotel feel a bit shabby, which is not the case about the ground floor and public areas.
In fairness my wife's sister sayed here last year and he room was very nice - perhaps ours is on the to do list.
