“Safe choice in the city”
Reviewed March 8, 2010

I use this hotel quite frequently with work and also for the odd weekend when I'm staying up in town. It's a pretty safe choice. Firstly one thing to point out that this is a business hotel with automated check in (which depending on your viewpoint) is quick and convenient. You put your credit card in the machine and it issues a card key and a slip with your room number and rate. There are staff on reception if you need help.

There are four room types going up £20 a size, the studios and suites have a small kitchenette. The smallest room type being cozy but it's not as bad as some of the West End hotels. The standard and studio rooms are fine by USA city standards. The suites have a separate sitting and desk area but the ones I've stayed in are exactly two separate rooms. All rooms are furnished to the same business like standard, not luxe but smart and clean.

Beds are really comfortable and bed linen pretty good. Most rooms have wet rooms with a large shower, from memory the suites have tubs. The hotel is in a renovated office or bank building and so some of the rooms are odd shaped and some are a little dark. They have good aircon but the heating is a also from the same unit and it's a bit drying overnight.

There is a restaurant on site but I've not used it as I always like the delivery service which means you can get anything you want delivered from a large selection of restaurants from TGI's to Sushi to burgers or Indian, basically whatever you want is on the menu. Cooled filtered water and bottles are free from each lift landing, there is also a kettle/coffee maker in each room. Plus good free WiFi.

The location may be a little different for a foreign visitor but once you figure out that Bank Station is just behind the property it's a few stops into Oxford Circus or Tottenham Court Road for the West End. Having worked in the City I like the "Square Mile" at the weekend, you could almost walk in the road all day it's so quiet. Plus there is the bonus of all the historic sites on your doorstep, Tower Bridge and the Tower is 5 minutes walk and St Paul's and the Tate about 10. Walk in the opposite direction past Liverpool Street and you've got the Markets and Brick Lane (for famous Indian food) and Shoreditch has a number of cool bars. If you have a late night in the West End a taxi will cost around £20 if you miss the last tube or there are frequent night buses. The location may be a bit quiet but it is safe.

At the weekend there is a large Tesco opposite Liverpool Street and inside the station are M&S, Boots the Chemist and Mc Donalds and Burger King etc. During the week evening dining in the city is not a problem and there is the Cross Keys pub next door to the hotel.

On balance this hotel is excellent value, It's not full service but for £66 a night it is very hard to find a better deal in London.

I stay in hotels a lot for business but this was for pleasure. I booked it for a great price for the weekend as it is situated in the city which of course is dead at the weekend. It is kind of self-service which may put some off but for us it was fine. They were offering upgrades to a 'Suite' for £15 which we availed ourselves of which i suspect gives you a slighly bigger bedroom (it wasn't big by any means), but it has a kitchenette facility which if you are staying for more then one night would be great. It has a fridge and a 2 ring electric hob with a sink.

Bathroom is shower only (fine for us), and it has a small lounge with a 2 seater couch and 2 chairs - very small but OK if you are a business traveller on your own.

Location is brilliant - 5 minutes walk from Liverpool Street Station (mainline and underground), and 5 minutes from Monument (underground stn).

Staff were very friendly and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The only downside is that the sound travels very easily through the hotel - we were woken up by latecomers arriving at the hotel in the early hours, but I guess this is the same for any city hotel.

I booked this hotel very last minute online after being given a free theatre ticket for last Friday night in London's West End.I didn't want to spend too much, but didn't want anywhere dubious,as I was meeting friends for the theatre but travelling back to ,and staying overnight at the hotel alone.
I chose it from reviews on here (as I have in the past),and once again I was very pleased indeed with my experience.
The hotel caters mainly for business guests Mon-Thurs,and as such is very modern and appointed with a myriad of technical and organisational facilities, and is smartly and tastefully furnished. There is a self check-in option on arrival, but i chose to deal with the two charming members of staff that were on duty during my stay, and found them very pleasant indeed.
My single room was not overlarge, but perfectly adequate with double (and very comfy) bed, plenty of hanging space and dressing table/desk surfaces. The bathroom had a large shower (no bath),plenty of towels considering I was a single traveller, and everywhere was spotless.
Monument tube station is less than 5 minutes away. The only negative, which has been mentioned in previous reviews so I was fully aware of it,is that on Saturdays/Sundays the area is a bit of a ghost town with all shops and restaurants closed.I could have requested breakfast delivered to my room, but chose to get the tube into 'town' to eat .

Great value, excellent for a not too expensive break, and will definitely book again next time I'm off to London!

I stayed here for an evening with my girlfriend. We were welcomed on arrival and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a room up on the 8th floor which was clean, tidy however slightly smaller than what we expected from a 4 star. Saying that it was perfectly fine for the £70 rate we paid via Londontown.com and would stay again. The only negatives I would say that our room was near a boiler or something so had a constant dull humming noise and the kettle didnt work but the noise didnt trouble our sleep.

Dinner at the hotel was gorgeous, £17 for chicken and chips but it was worth it. Not much choice for vegetarians or those who don't eat beef/steak.

Breakfast excellent.

Furry decor was very unique and bar had a pleasant ambience.

Room spotless. Fantastic Stay

We recently stayed at Club Quarters, Gracechurch between Christmas and New Year’s. The hotel and staff were fantastic, and the room was always extremely clean. The heat worked, there was always enough hot water for my wife, my 8 year old daughter and me to shower, and the water pressure in the shower was constant. I’ve paid substantially more per night for hotels here in the states that didn’t provide these simple amenities. Although the restaurants in the immediate vicinity were closed on Boxing Day, Sunday and the following Monday due to its location in the financial district, it was a short walk to the Liverpool tube station where several nice restaurants were open. During the week, there were many restaurants, pubs, pharmacies and grocery stores open in the area. The hotel is also located a short walk away from three tube stations on different lines, thus providing easy tube access all over London. The free bottles of purified water were a nice touch, and the staff was happy to help with little things, like when we ordered a bottle of wine and needed a corkscrew. We would definitely stay in this hotel again.
