Astor Court might leave something to be desired to some travelers. It is old, the floors make noise when you walk on them, the furniture and the rooms are _old_ and the breakfast is sub par. But all that is forgiven based on the location and the excellent prices they offer. The rooms are enormous, and they are clean.

I have stayed four times over the past four years at Astor Court now, and the 5 minute walk from Oxford Circus is unbeatable. Especially when we pay under £50 pr person pr night. I will be going back there the next time I am in London.

Thankfully I only had 2 nights here prior to flying out. It was the least comfortable of all the hotels I stayed in over the month in UK.

Very friendly helpful staff, and good location, just a short walk to Oxford street shopping, the British Museum, and any number of buses n tubes nearby.

The accomm is disappointing and definitely not value for money. My bed was appallingly bad, mattress was thin and lumpy, I felt every lumpy spring and got very little sleep. Unable to change rooms as hotel full so I have no idea about other rooms.

The included breakfast was poor standard, no hot food and cold noisy breakfast room more on a par with very basic backpacker accomm.

Would not recommend unless you can't get anywhere else.

Room Tip: Avoid the nightmare mattress in room 26

We stayed 5 nights and were generally very satisfied with the Astor Court Hotel. Very clean and with a friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was excellent and adequate, but not sumptuous.
The location is great, fairly close to Oxford Circus (3 tube lines!) and the surrounding shopping district. Our room wasn't very big, but very nice and quiet, maybe a bit old fashioned (let's say it had atmosphere). WC and bathroom were separated and so were the hot and cold water taps - like being back in my grandparents house.
The only not so good thing was that the mattresses were very noisy. Nice enough to sleep on, but making loud squeaks whenever you moved just a little. Maybe I was just unlucky (or a bit too heavy)?
The hotel rate is fair considering the standard and the location. Here is a hint how to get to the hotel from Heathrow. Forget about the exorbitant £19 o/w of the Heathrow Express to Paddington (+ £2 for the tube). Take the ordinary tube all the way at a mere £2,90. 53 minutes on the Piccadilly Line and 1 stop only on the Bakerloo line will bring you within easy walking distance of the hotel.
The hotel has a PC available for the guests, but you are charged £2 for 30 minutes on the internet.

Stayed here the last weekend of September 2012. This is NOT a 3 star hotel. The breakfast was bitterly dissappointing with no hot food at all. The hotel also states "fresh pastries" the pastries are NOT baked fresh each day they were awful! The rooms are very old fashioned but they are clean. The hotel is in a good location 5 min walk from Oxford St. The staff on Reception are very friendly and helpful but the staff in the breakfast room wouldn't even say hello! Considering the price I paid it was not good value. You expect a really decent and fully kitted (ie bar and restaurant and hot breakfast) for the price I paid for here!

We had a ground floor room. It was OK. The decor needed re-doing particulalry the bathroom as this appeared dirty but probably more down to needing re-decorating. The breakfast was dissapointing, nothing cooked and was not really hygenic in its layout. The hotel wasn't that cheap, had it been less then maybe a few thing would be overlooked.

Very old fashioned and needing updating but basically clean and tidy. But what let it down for us was breakfast. It is a continental breakfast but you cant call it that the only thing we had on offer was a load of white bread you had to toast and cereals the worst breakfast we have ever had anywhere. and the price is not cheap !!!!!!

Room Tip: Dont book if you are looking for a breakfast No fruit No meat or cheese just cereals and toast awful...
