“Complicated checking in system”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2013

Good location and clean and staff were friendly enough. However the checking in system is laughable, took us ages to use the self check in and when asked they could have just booked us in at teh desk but we had to go back to the machine. Then 2 of our party werent even in the same building, they had a 300 yard walk to the other part of the travelodge, just in convientient and not explained

Best approached from Drury lane so you can sneak in at the back and unload cases. Car parking on site as a first-come arrangement but they do a half-price deal with NCP across the main Road. Get a ticket from reception which, when you insert it after your parking ticket from NCP, will half the total amount. Standard double room small but with a comfortable bed. Shower small we-room type. Bring your own shampoo etc because only soap is supplied.
Breakfast is basic English or continental but OK with orange juice, tea and coffee from serve-yourself machines. The service is pleasant and once again OK.. Good pub on the corner of Drury Lane, The White Hart is opposite the hotel and Covent garden is about half a mile away. Also handy for Soho and the Theatre District.

Room Tip: Quieter rooms round the back. The front lies on a busy main road.

The location of this hotel and the helpfulness of the staff, make this a great place to stay for a family holiday in London. A lot of the attractions are walkable and the bus tour start within easy reach of the hotel. The staff even help you when you are outside the hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable.

Stayed on 11/07 for 1 night. All of the staff appeared efficient but thank you Kirsty, Boris and Kristops - you made a pleasant stay exceptional. Despite the usual sparseness the rooms were clean and well-maintained, the new beds were firm and comfortable as were the pillows. Only downside was the noise from the street revellers late at night followed by the bin collections in the early hours.

The hotel was very well located and ideal for getting out and about.
The staff were excellent and very helpful.
The room could have been better (no air con) and the bathroom needed updating/maintaining better. If like me I like a nice bed to slip on (not a plank) then I would ask for a softer mattress or topper otherwise you will be in trouble with your back and get very little sleep.
The food was very basic and really not very impressed (even thou it wasn't expensive).
My biggest gripe is with Travelodge internet site, you can't alter the booking once booked for a early check-in; the cost of phoning them is 10p per minute and when you do eventually get through they can't help.
I would use the hotel again but learn from this visit.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Travelodge Covent Garden on Drury Lane. The location was great for the activities we had planned ahead to do. We had a room with a king size bed, but with 2 people having to use CPAP machines at night, there was only one outlet available to use. We had to buy an extension cord to go from the bathroom to the bedside to use the machine at night. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were clean. The problem we had with the room was the damp carpet. There was no fan in the bathroom for steam exhaust during or after a shower and no way to open the only window in the room to let some of the moisture out. The room doors seal tight (good for fire safety), but that prevents moisture from escaping too. Since we were gone from the room all day, it was okay. However, upon returning to the moldy room at night, we both had problems with allergy flare-ups (not experienced at all during the day whether we were outdoors or in other buildings, or even in the hotel lobby and hallway). That was so disappointing to have the room marred by the sinus congestion. We didn't watch the TV so the small size didn't matter to us. It looked to be the size of my 17 inch laptop screen. The handicap access was not well marked and as I was wearing a knee brace for the entire travel time, some days it was slow climbing the front entrance stairs as well as lugging up the suitcases. How else to get inside the hotel? Nothing marked outside, and the marking inside for handicap exit, led right to another door leading to, you guessed it, the same stairs we climbed to come inside. There should be a lift or something easily available for travel lies with luggage or handicaps, to handle the entrance better.

Having stayed recently at another Travelodge - I was not looking forward to this trip. However, pleasantly surprised - having navigated the self service check in system eventually, I am happy to say the room was just what I wanted - clean and tidy.

Staying here for 2 nights - I used the bar/restaurant only on the 1st night. Staff in bar area a little pre-booked with their own concerns - what time they finished, what shifts they had next week - blah, blah, blah. Nothing too terrible.

Placed my order and waited for this delicious food to arrive - oooh dear!! What a dissappointment.

It was Fish & Chips - simple, great dish when using simple, fresh ingredients. When using trade version of "Birds Eyes" fish in batter - it looks awful, with no taste at all - deifinately NOT what it says on the tin!!

Apart from the food though - great location - clean, tidy.

Would stay again.
