“Excellent location”
Reviewed January 18, 2013

Great location. Nearby Marylebone Street, 2 minutes to Oxford Street and also Bond Street tube station. Staff were nice, friendly and helpful as always. Room is small but it was just me staying in so it didn't matter. The room is cosy, nice, wifi, TV, nice little bathroom, comfortable bed, complimentary newspaper of your choice. I think this must have been my 4th time there and it is still by far the best and great value for money. I will return for sure.

As a frequent traveller to London I sometimes end up in the Mandeville,as the company I work for has it on the preferred list. The Mandeville not actually one, but two hotels. One is a well appointed, upscale hotel with spacious rooms with high ceilings, a nice view and plenty of space in a nice and central location, the other is our typical tourist trap with noisy airconditioning and rooms that are so tiny and stuffed with furniture that it wouldn't surprise me if guests have suffered attacks of claustrophobia there. And the funny thing is, if you just book a room you never know which part you'll end up in. One is a good experience and a place to return to, the other is a place that is simply not worth the money, by far.

Room Tip: If you get a room and the reception points you to the two elevators in the back, complain loudly and...

We planned our stay in London with hotel hopping. Before Mandeville, we stayed 5 nights at Ampersand in South Kensington. The check in staff voluntarily offered us a free upgrade to a bigger room because we were staying for 5 nights. When we hopped over to Mandeville for another 5 nights, at check in we were told the room we booked had no wifi and it was chargeable daily. We were charged extra to upgrade to a room with wifi by a straight face check in lady who looked determined to make us pay extra for room upgrade to a bigger one with wifi. What a total difference from Ampersand. Definitely not coming back again. this was low season and the hotel felt empty. Not that the place was fully booked out.

In the hotel room there was a Nespresso machine but only 3 capsules offered for all 5 nights. There was no daily replenishment. Extra capsules were chargeable. No tea making facilities. Even the creamer and sugar packs were not replenished during daily room servicing, had to request for it. Resorted to buying my tea bags from m&s nearby on Oxford street.

Tv was one of those tiny 14 inch monitor vs the previous hotel's big flat screen LED tv. The upgraded room was only a queen size with lousy flat pillows. Everyday we had to call reception for the wifi password that was changed daily.

Other than the location, and the Etro toiletries, not satisfied with this stay. Not coming back again.

This is a well priced hotel considering its location and what's around it's locality but then we could have got a good company rate! I only used the room not the bar or restaurant as breakfast was silly money, I also object strongly to the tray charge for room service, isn't that one of the pleasures of staying in a hotel.
The room was well appointed but no tea making facilities on coffee was a bit disappointing.
Nothing else to say really its ronseal, it does what it says on the tin.

An excellently located property with impressive rooms for that price and location in a city like London. The breakfast is just OK, hardly anything you'd relish. Their pub which has an entrance from the lobby as well is a nice place for an evening of Fish n Chips / Sandwiches washed down with beer and served by some very bright and smart service staff.

Just spent New Years at the Mandeville Hotel and had a wonderful experience. Raphael was wonderfully helpful and let us check in early. The room was clean and comfortable, with a really chic bathroom. The room isn't very big, but it has everything you could need. The proximity to Oxford Street and the Bond Street tube station was really convenient!

We booked for afternoon tea for 10 people. We received a really nice welcome from the female manager. Unfortunately the service afterwards was simply terrible. The waiter knew nothing about the different tea varieties and said so. The sandwiches were dry and tastless but the cakes were good. The champagne was plentiful but overall it was not worth the price. Awful service.
