“Great hotel, but a little far out.”
Reviewed March 27, 2013 via mobile

I stayed here for 1 night with 3 friends in January. We were in London for 2 days, to see Matilda and some of the sites. We spent very little time in the hotel, due to the short nature of our trip, but overall we had a comfortable stay.

We arrived in the evening (around 6pm) and checked in swiftly and easily, we were given a double room on the third floor, which wasn't overly large, but comfortable enough. The room had 2 huge and very comfortable beds, a desk, 2 chairs and a small table. It had a reasonable sized bathroom and plenty of storage. It was also equipped with tea and coffee making faculties which was nice. Like I said, we spent very little time in the room, just changing before the show and sleeping. But the room was comfortable and adequate. We'd definitely stay again.

The only downside is, that the hotel isn't central, although, there is a tube station, Swiss Cottage about a 5 minute walk away, allowing easy access to London and all the sites, which are 20-30 mins away. The fact that the hotel isn't central also means that it's in a quiet location, allowing for a peaceful nights sleep.

Steph.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the London Marriott Hotel Regents Park and for your positive comments; we are delighted to hear that you would stay with us again.

Regarding the location of the hotel, we would like to take this opportunity to share with you and any reader of your review that, although we are just outside of the very centre of London, our location is perfect for those visiting the city who wish to do it all during their stay. My family of three and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel which is located in a quiet part of the NW London neighborhood of Swiss Cottage. Our room, though a bit small, was comfortable with double beds and the usual amenities. The facility offers a restaurant and a bar for on-site meals and beverages. There's a gym and a pool, along with services for personal grooming. Free Wi-Fi is available in the common areas, and taxis are always waiting outside for a fare. The front desk staff was very cordial and quite helpful with directions, etc. The Wimbledon Tennis Stadium is less than 45 minutes driving distance away. There are two underground stations within walking distance of the hotel. The Swiss Cottage Tube Station on the Jubilee Line is less than a 5-minute walk, and the Chalk Farm Tube Station on the Northern Line is a 15-minute walk. From either line, connections can be made to all parts of the city and the airports. Rather than walking, one can catch a bus outside the hotel to the Chalk Farm Station.

There are a number of eating places along the main road, Finchley, just passed the Swiss Cottage Station. A couple of premier American fast food entities are included, as also is a local chain supermarket where one can pick up fruits and juices & snacks for the in-room refrigerator. In the opposite direction, and before getting to the Chalk Farm Station, there's a cute little cafe with a very delectable menu and one of the cleanest bathroom you'll ever find. The must visit Camden Market is a seven pound taxi ride away from the hotel, or you can take the half an hour walk; it has a lot to offer. Also nearby and within walking distance is the Regents Park, the London Zoo, and Primrose Hill. Primrose Hill offers a number of shops, restaurants, and cafes. It is home to many of the cities elites. If lucky, you may run into any one or more of the many actors who live in the neighborhood. We ran into actress Helena Bonham Carter who recently played the queen in the movie the King's Speech, and who graciously allowed us to photograph her.

We stayed here for two nights in March 2013. The hotel is undergoing renovation to the exterior but we didn't experience any noise or inconvenience. The room was large and comfortable, and both the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel is close to Swiss Cottage underground station. My son enjoyed the swimming pool and the fitness facilities too. The breakfast was a good buffet service with a wide choice. The only criticism I would have is that for the price of the room, I do think internet access should be free. Smaller cheaper hotels manage to provide this, so I don't see why the bigger ones can't.

Only stayed here for one night but it suited our needs. The room, although slightly on the small side, was clean and comfortable, the staff were all friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet was very good. The only downside to this hotel was the outside, which looked shabby and in need of a lick of paint, but we understand that work is about to be started on this at the end of March. The hotel is a five minute walk from Swiss Cottage underground station and about a 15 minute walk to Regents Park.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at the London Marriott Hotel Regents Park and for your kind comments regarding our associates, bedrooms and breakfast.

The exterior of the hotel did indeed need a makeover, and it is great to hear that our ongoing refresh project which started at the end of January did not impact your stay (the refresh only takes place during weekdays).

We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back again in the near future.

I stayed here for 2 nights in September. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room had 2 double beds and was spacious and clean. The beds were very comfortable. A typical marriott hotel room. I also enjoyed the pool. The hotel doesn't offer free wifi so I had to go to the library down the street. The hotel is within walking distance to the swiss cottage station which you can take to all the attractions. From the outside the hotel really needs a makeover, but inside everything is good.

We stayed here for 4 nights in February.
We had a family room which consisted of 2 double (or king size) beds.... As our children weren't too happy sharing a bed.... they are 10 and 12 we asked for an extra quilt so each could snuggle up under their own quilt and this was then no issue.
A good breakfast is offered and of a good standard.
The swimming pool is rather small....
Also when we stayed building works started and the noise in the room was very loud. We complained to the reception and we were immediately offered another room away from the building noises so we can't complain at all.
Overall a pleasant stay outside of the centre of London. We shall be returning one day needless to say!!

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your recent stay at the London Marriott Hotel Regents Park. We are very pleased to learn that you had a pleasant stay with us and will visit us again.

We are sorry that noise from our balcony refresh project disturbed your stay, but we are very glad that the situation was quickly rectified to your satisfaction. In order to minimise disturbance to our guests, the project work is only taking place on one of the hotel’s three elevations between the hours of 09:00-17:30hrs, Monday to Friday; the outcome of which will be a new façade to celebrate our 40th anniversary this year.
