“The good outweighs the disappointing service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013

Tis hotel has many very good features and some not so good. The best way to review it is to just list them.

Good:
Excellent location. Central/west end area. Easy access to both Charing Cross and Embankment Tube (subway) Stations. Easy walking to area restaurants in Covent Garden and along The Strand. Close to many theaters or easy access to them by subway.

Price: £190 + £38 vat per night

Rooms: good size room with lots of light. Has a nice kitchenette with frig, stove, microwave, sink. Bathroom is modern and has good lighting too. The bed was extremely comfortable. Tile and hardwood floors. No carpeting.

Breakfast: not included ( at least not in our package). £12 per person. Self serve waffles, breads, yogurt, fruit, scrambled eggs, sausage, and pastries. Coffee Machine makes about any kind of coffee you would like. Hot chocolate too

Free coffee and tea 24/7

Bad/ not so good

Maid service: the room was very clean when we checked in. That's good but it wasn't cleaned well the entire 7 days/ 6 nights we were there. Basically we just got clean towels and the bed made daily. They didn't sweep or vacuum the entire stay. The bathroom was cleaned once. Lotion/cotton balls, q-tips never replenished. Coffee or cream never replenished. Didn't get any service 2 of the days. We were gone all day until around 4:00pm and that's when they wanted to clean the room. Strange time to clean as most hotels do that early in the day. I just cleaned the floors with the bath towels.

Front desk: basically very nice people but not a lot of help with restaurant info

I would stay there again but try to engage the maids to clean the room by leaving them a tip.

Room Tip: If you need it to be very quiet to sleep, ask for a room that doesn't front the street.

My two daughters, granddaughters and I stayed in the Citadines Trafalgar Square during February half term. What a find! We booked a two bedroom apartment and it was superb: very clean warm, comfortable, beautifully decorated and located in the centre of London. The tube (Embankment), the river, Houses of Parliament, London Eye, Aquarium etc were all within a five minute walk and the hotel is ideally situated for the restaurants and theatres of London.
My granddaughters were five and six years old so it was great to be able to return to the apartment at any time during the day and have a kitchen facility available. The staff could not have been more helpful.
We will return next year.

The location here is fantastic. Such an easy walk to anything. The service was very good, the staff there very helpful. The place was clean. The only thing I would rate poorly would be the bathrooms. The bath/shower is very dangerous to get in and out of. The water pressure was pretty bad and the hot water would often run out in a shower. Two of us stayed in the unit which was quiet small. Overall though it was comfortable and clean and despite the bathroom situation I would still consider staying again.

Room Tip: Choose a lower level floor because the lifts get busy in the morning and you have to wait a bit for...

Booked this hotel online and it turned out to be a real find. Great location for the West End, Covent Garden, Soho etc. The hotel has obviously been fairly recently re-furbished and was in excellent condition. We had a 'double studio' on the 8th floor which had everything you could want from a 'studio' - reasonably sized kitchen area if you wanted to cook anything - provided with everything you could need, even down to dishwasher (including dishwasher tablets - very thoughtful!!). The room was modern, clean and functional - probaly lacks a bit of soul, but it is a hotel room after all. The staff were very friendly & helpful. If you want a good hotel room in central London at a reasonable price look no further. Only slight complaint is that the pillows are a little too hard for our liking, but apart from that no problems - highly recommended.

We booked the Citadines Aparthotel for New Years Eve, so that we had an easy location to go and watch the fireworks from, and return quickly into the warmth of the hotel.
The location made this incredibly convenient!

We had 3 families that came into to use the apartment that evening (around 12 of us), and it was an easy fit.

There were 2 large bedrooms with flat screen TV upstairs, a massive bathroom and a separate toilet.

Downstairs there was a kitchen, a sitting room and a dining space as well.
The amenities were high class, and it felt like a home away from home.

We cooked up some amazing home cooked food, as everything was either ridiculously expensive or shut on New Years eve.

The road that the hotel was on was closed to the public, so we used our access cards to get home.
We left the apartment at 11.45pm, got great views of the fireworks and were back inside the warm apartment by 12.30am.

Staff were hugely helpful, and overall, it was one of the best experiences I ever had of New Years, and something I will do with my children in the future.

Overall, it cost £300 for the 3 families, £100 each family, around £25 each. Well worth it for a wonderful experience!

Great price and location, 2 mins walk to Trafalgar Square. Easily walkable to Covent Garden, Leicester Square and Soho. Accommodation was comfortable and spotless. After checking out at midday we left our cases in a secure room at reception while we went off for a number of hours. Helpful staff and stay went very smoothly. My one worry had been that I would struggle getting my largish car into their car park spaces so instead parked at Park Lane Underground car park and taxied to Citadines. Have now looked at Citadines car park and the spaces are a good size with pillars between bays so cars are not jammed together so would use it next time as would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Had a room at the back on fourth floor, didn't hear any noise from traffic or passersby.

The Citadines Prestige Trafalgar Square London really is a great location. Exit Charring cross station, pop out almost opposite Coutts, turn left, past Boots, past Waterstones and follow Northumberland Avenue left until you see Scotland Yard on your right... Citadines is opposite.

The hotel is so close to Trafalger Square and all the fun of London you really couldnt be in a better location. I wanted to be close to Villiers Street and it absolutely was.

My room was quiet and the hotel reception area is modern and bright. A nice area to meet friends and have a drink. The rooms have a small kitchen but mine really was small. I had a fridge but it wasn't very cold however, the kicthen was very well stocked with glasses, bowls and plates etc. I found washing up liquid, tea, coffee and milk but there was no sink drainer. The rooms are well laid out and the bathroom was lovely. Very spacious but I would have preferred a smaller bathroom and larger kitchen.

The staff were very pleasant and I wasn't hurried out of my room in the morning. Coffee in the lobby was a very up-to-date nice touch.

I will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: As always, higher floors are quieter.
