“Warm welcome cold room!!”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

We really enjoyed our stay, the staff were friendly and welcoming and the daily complimentary champagne added to the welcome. The room was clean with crisp white Cotton bed linen, fluffy bathrobe and towels. The little surprises of complimentary gifts left on the bedside table and daily replenished water added to the feeling of luxury. The continental breakfast was good and plenty, but the breakfast room slightly cramped and the pastries rather hard and would probably have perked up if warmed!! The only negative to our stay was we had chosen a weekend when the temperature was -3 with icy winds and our room did not have any heating, the climate control had broken. The alternative heating offered was a very delapidated squeaky fan heater which refused to warm the room. My other issue was
we had been "sold" a Queen size bed but in reality it was two singles pushed together which caused me to loose my partner down the gap as we huddled against the cold in our hotel fluffy bathrobes. Oh, and one other issue the "open" fire that is mentioned being in the bar is open but with no fire, I thought a real fire in the centre of London rather enthusistic marketing. All in all though I will return to this hotel again, and recommend it for value, location and friendliness.

You've already read that this location is fantastic and it's true. So close to the metro AND a good-sized grocery store chain, the Waitrose.

Here's some other helpful info that might sway your decision:
-- Heated bathroom floor!!!
-- Terry cloth robe and slippers
-- Excellent toiletry products provided (mouthwash, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, facial bar soap, lotion, lip balm, bath beads, breath mints)
-- hot water kettle (you may not think this is a big deal, but other hotels we stayed in around Europe didn't provide this)
-- hot chocolate packets, teas, instant coffee, biscuit
-- Ceramic mugs (not dinky cups)
-- We were on the ground floor, so I can't speak for the other levels, but our water pressure in the shower was excellent. That's a huge bonus point for me.
-- A newspaper delivered daily to your front door
-- While we did not partake only because we were never there at this time, they provide a complimentary glass of champagne between 7-8 pm in the lounge area.
-- Free WiFi (although you needed to get a new code every day)
-- The beautiful mirrored sink cabinet had two drawers. I loved that I had somewhere to put my toiletry bag somewhere other than on the counter, or on top of the toilet tank!

The Ashburn is right next to a Holiday Inn and a Best Western, but why stay there for practically the same price when you can make your stay less commercial and more unique with this boutique hotel?

Room Tip: Ground floor had excellent water pressure

Stayed here on my 1st night in London (First Trip too!). Hotel is approximately 5 mins walk from Glouchester station. 1st impression "Traditional English". Ours was a refurb room facing Glouchester Road amazingly not noisy at all. Loved the Breakfast room. It is so cosy! Will be back for sure!

Great Hotel very friendly staff. Terrific room that we were upgraded to. Bed was awfully comfy. Just round the corner from Gloucester Road tube station.

Breakfast was included in price and the dining room and food were perfect.

Would definitely return .

Room Tip: Deluxe room was charming.

This is the best hotel we have stayed in. It's within walking distance of the Royal Albert Hall and close to tube stations. The Concierge, Syle, was very helpful and pleasant - nice greeting when we arrived. He checked us in rather than we wait at Reception. Our king size room was lovely - nicely decorated, clean and warm. We unfortunately spilt a full (huge) cup of tea on the bed and within minutes of ringing reception, two very smart young ladies arrived to completely change the bed!! They smiled and nothing was too much trouble. The bed was very comfortable and the best nights sleep was had. Great bathroom with plenty of room. Very pleasant breakfast room with comfortable chairs. Good choice of continental breakfast. Had to pay a little extra for full English breakfast. We will definitely be staying at this hotel again - well impressed.

Room Tip: Had a look at a suite but not as good as king size room - bed smaller and faced the main road so noi...

At first glance, I was really impressed with this hotel. It is in a great location and at first it looks fantastic. I hate to be one to complain about little things, but considering the price of this place, I feel that it is only right to do so. The rooms are absolutely tiny, the decor is extremely dated and some of the furniture is even falling apart. I can overlook this as it made it feel a bit more rustic in a way. My issues were that the current owners have not been given their alcohol licence yet and we were not informed of this at any point prior to booking or upon arrival, the first we knew was when we decided to head back early and have a drink at the hotel before bed. The booking stated that breakfast was included, however in actual fact a continental breakfast is included and if you want a full English it is another £7 per head. I just think that considering the cost (we paid over £150 for 1 night) breakfast should be included and we DEFINITELY should have been informed that the bar is not licensed - especially as there are posters all over the hotel advertising and pizza and beer deal that they offer! Overall I was really disappointed with the place and I wont be booking again.

I have stayed at three or four top hotels in the same area before, this one definitely does not lag behind. Decently sized rooms. Extremely helpful and professional staff. Brilliant underfloor heating in the bathroom. Perhaps somewhat of a traditional and old-fashioned furnishing style - but is absolutely fine if you are not after a completely modern hotel. Extremely clean everywhere. Did not have breakfast so cannot comment on that. Well located, 2 mins from Gloucester Road underground, which is connected to Piccadilly, District and Circle Line. Great stay!

Room Tip: I had an executive room on the 2nd floor, facing the main road and had no problem whatsoever with no...
