The best thing about the room was the big and comfortable double bed! Unfourtunately it took most of the space in the room leaving no space to pass another person without climbing over the bed. The view was to the back, quiet but ugly, wooden blind was broken and the tv showed mostly blizzard. The bathroom tiles looked new but it seemed that nothing else had been chainged. Otherwise i would have been pretty happy with the room but after we went to bed our neighbour came home; door open, tv on, chatting together - the wall was so thin they could just as well walked straight into our room! I'd recommend that the hotel would add erplugs next to the soap and teabags - they would be much more useful in this hotel.

We stayed here for 5 nights during our honeymoon in April. We stayed on the 1st floor and the room had really high ceilings and a nice view of the street corner of Cromwell Road which wasn't noisy. There was a complimentary bottle of wine in our room.
Breakfast was nice and had a variety from fruit, pastries, cereals and coffee.
It was a 5 minute walk from Gloucester tube station which crossed through 3 tube lines so we always had easy access to where ever we wanted to go. Every morning we picked up the newspapers and a few magazines that were there to take. There is a bus stop (#74) right outside the hotel to take you into town. We bought an Oyster Card which can be used on tubes and buses so we didn't have any problems with getting around.

I understand from some of the other reviews that the rooms vary a lot in size, but what we were offered when we spent two nights at Kensington Rooms back in January was not worthy of a hotel claiming three stars.
Our double room was just big enough for the double bed and a desk (without chair), but varying room sizes probably can't be avoided with a hotel inside an old terraced buildig. It would however have been more suitable as a single room.
If the room was crammy, the bathroom was a joke. The photo shows most of it - the opening seen at the edge of the picture gives an impression how narrow it was.
On the right the toilet, on the left a tiny shower cabin and in the middle a sink. All this squeezed into a strip of space probably no wider than 50 cm. It was so narrow, you could not turn around with the door closed, let alone get dressed. My wife and I are both fairly small people, but anybody supersized would risk getting stuck in there...
Except for that the hotel was OK and can't be denied a certain charm.
The neighbourhood is sleepy, but across the street we found two Italian restaurants that were both all right. The Gloucester Road tube station is within a few hundred meters with the Circle and Picadilly lines for easy access to City as well as to Heathrow.

Stayed at The Kensington Rooms with my wife from Thursday through Sunday. The location is excellent, very close to Gloucester Road tube station, which has good connections to three of the main tubelines (Circle, Piccadilly and District lines).

Our room had two single beds that were pushed together to form a double, which worked out ok. Room was rather small though, as the beds took up 85% of the floor space. Beds were okay to sleep in, and basic amenities in the room was okay too (tea/coffee, small 14" TV).

One drawback was the proximity to Cromwell Road, which is rather noisy no matter the time of day. The noise wouldn't have been a problem if the window in the room had been of a normal quality, but the paperthin glass might as well have been left out, as both noise and a cold breeze was coming in at any time.

Service at the hotel was good, and the free luggage-storage after checkout was particularly nice. Breakfast was your average continental with toast, fruit, tea/coffee and croissants - works ok, but not too wholesome.

All in all an okay hotel for staying in London, seeing as most of the time you're not in the room anyway on a citybreak like ours.

Excellent location. I was greeted with a wellcome smile at the arrival and the few days I stayed were pleasant and comfortable. Reception people were friendly. The only thing I did not like about the hotel, perhaps, is the breakfast, particularly coffee, but that is my personal demand.
Good place to stay in over a quick business trip.

Stayed 3 nights ,great location, great value, really cool interiors fantastic hotel! and wish I could have stayed longer!
I cannot believe some of the reviews of this hotel, please don't believe a word of it, this hotel is just fantastic!
On my last visit stayed in a more expensive hotel in the same area and there is no comparison. My tip is to ask for one of the studios, there huge! and good value!.
