“They insisted that the room was warm”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2011

I'm surprised with a smell of humidity while i entered to the room. It wasn't a case ı met in a ibis hotel. The staff was gentile looking for how to help the clients. Nevertheless they insisted that my room was warm and no need to bring a heater. I had to convince them to bring a blanket after calling 2 times the reception.

For a basic no-frills, no extras, somewhat bare minimum hotel, this would be a good choice. We had a room with a double bed. You get two hand towels, two bath towels, and a bath mat. I asked for another bath towel and was somewhat interrogated by housekeeping - but they did give it to me. You get one tiny plastic wrapped bar of soap. There is a liquid soap dispenser in the shower. No other amenities in the bath. There is a teapot with instant coffee, but no tea. The room is small, but OK. The furniture is nice with two side chairs and a small table. There is also a desk chair (no notepad or writing instrument). The bed was very comfortable. Inside the closet is a trouser press. I used n iron from housekeeping, but it was broken and leaked water. The air system can heat the room, albeit slowly. There was also a space heater in the room. The hair dryer is in the desk drawer. The West Brompton and Earl's Court tube stops are a short and reasonable walk (respectively). If you walk east (right), there are pubs, restaurants (further), and a Starbucks. While this is a non-smoking hotel, someone whose air ducts connected to ours was smoking. The hotel tried to determine where it came from, but could not. We had to keep our bathroom door closed and sealed. The pub has decent food and shows some football matches on a large movie screen and TVs. The breakfast buffet is OK, but you have to completely serve yourself - even coffee. We paid between 95 and 125 pounds per night (varied over a week). The information desk (not really a concierge) can book taxis, and, I believe, tours. I am giving this three stars only because the hotel seems to try to cut corners wherever possible and does not provide at least the basic amenities and services I would expect - even at a minimum.

We found this Ibis hotel to be very comfortable and located in a really nice area of Kensington. Not having been to London before we had no idea where anything was located so we were pleasantly surprised with the location of this hotel. Earls Court tube station was a couple of minutes walk away and we were able to get on and off the Piccadilly line easily which took us into the main tourist areas of London. There were also a couple of bus stops directly outside the hotel.

The hotel was clean and tidy and the room was quite large for London sizes. There were tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, wardrobe space and dressing area with chair.

I looked at so many hotels in London prior to booking this one and for the price we paid (under £100) per night I think that it was very good value for money.

My daughter and I have stayed at the hotel 4 times over the last few years, the last being in September 2011 for a week. The service was great and the check in was quick and easy unlike some hotels where it can be a lengthy experience. The rooms are comforatble and clean with good facilities. The cost was very reasonable. And free internet access in your room, for laptop travellers like us it was great and saves a lot of trouble avoiding carrying laptops around in internet cafes.

The hotel is 5mins away from West Brompton station which is both an underground and national rail station. This makes it very handy to get to any point within greater London. Two stops away on the national rail is Shepherds Bush which is just across the road from the huge Westfield London shopping mall. Also if you are taking advantage of the 2 for 1 specials, this is the closest national rail ticket office to West Brompton. We bought a 6 day travelcard which can also qualify you for the 2 for 1 specials but ONLY if purchased through a National Rail ticket office. The 74 bus stops across the road and takes you to Mme Tussards and Baker Street via Harrods and Marble Arch. There are many eateries close to the hotel and also an excellent mobile phone shop about 100 metres along Lillie Road towards Earls Court. You can get very good sim card deals - ours cost 3 pounds each which gave free calling between the 2 mobile phones in the UK and 2c a minute to call home. Couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in London. Go for a room on the higher floors for views across London

There is absolutely no problem with this hotel, its level is higher above the normal Ibis standards. Not Hilton, but worth the price. Location is very good, West Brompton tube station 2 minutes, Earls Court tube are 5 minutes away. There is plenty of shops, and a big 0-24 Tesco in the neighbourhood, the area is absolutely safe.

Rooms are okay, with a large flat TV, comfy bed. Bathrrom is very clean and modern, with bath tub. Iron and hairdryer is also available. Sound proofing is more or less okay, noise can be heared from the corridor. No minibar, only the former place of it (it must be earlier a unit of another chain).

Breakfast and dinner is delicious, although a bit boring, every day nearly the same food. There is a nice pub on the first floor offering various food and drinks also. Reception hall is nice, often packed with conference guests and tourist groups.

Interactive TV functions does not work, if you want to use WiFi, ask for room in a lower floor, but plugged net is available in every rooms. (GBP 15 / 24 hours).
