“Excellent hotel”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

The hotel is fantastic. The staff is ready and able to help you at all times. The rooms are clean and spacious enough. The location is perfect, approximately 300 meters from the tube, and just a short walk to the Victoria and Albert Museum. Hyde Park is about 5 to 10 minutes away. The breakfast selection is terrific, plenty of hot and cold choices. Try the restaurant for supper, you will not be disappointed.

I stayed here for one night on 22nd Sept 2012. I used to stay at this hotel on a regular basis because of its location to shops and bars and also a short walk to Harrods / Knightsbridge. I always stay due to work. However, after a few months of not staying, I have stayed there this week, and to be disappointed is an understatement.

I had only booked a single room because availability was limited. The room I was initially given was a box room, looking out at a wall and where the wi-fi did not work. The hotel moved me, and said I was being upgraded to a double de-luxe room. This had a double bed, which you could barely walk around it was that tight fitted in a small room. The wi-fi did work though.

The biggest frustration though was a 10 minute wait to be seated for breakfast, then being seated in a corner on top of where the waiters/waitresses manage their tables from. I then had a 20 minute process to check out. There was no queue at check out but it took the guy a long time, he was the second receptionist I had to go to because the first was 'logging in' which then failed. The guy who checked me out did not listen to some requests I made, e.g. Paying for room and food on separate cards, hence all went one bill which then had to be amended. After the whole thing, I was late for a meeting despite leaving my room in plenty of time.

The location still attracts me but there are other hotels in this vicinity, they will probably get a try out over the next few weeks. This will be despite me being a club Carlson member, I would prefer to forego the points that receive the poor service I again.

Stayed 4 nights at the Radisson Blu in Crompton Road and would stay again. By London standards the hotel was good value even though the rooms aren't big or luxurious. Room was clean and freshly decorated. Bathroom was compact but functional. Great location close to the Gloucester Road tube station. Single woman travelling by myself but felt safe at night coming back from the theatre. Didn't eat at the hotel but some nice restaurants and coffee shops close by. For those who like walking it is an easy walking distance to the major museums, Hyde Park and Knightsbridge.

Location excellent, right by Gloucester Road tube station, with many restaurant opportunities within a few yards, both fastfood and fine steakhouses.

The fact that old London buildings have strange stairways, corridors and elevators, seem to be something that you just have to accept. But parts of the long, dark brown corridors (and I mean everything is dark brown) are really depressing. They are so narrow you can hardly handle a meeting with a person in the corridor.

Staff is very courteous, no problem there. During my two night stay, mid-September, I asked not to get one of the tiniest single rooms, and was graciously upgraded to a "deluxe room". I dare not even think what the smaller single room would have been like...

It hardly has the feeling of a four-star hotel, more like three stars. However, with the rates you can get on a weekend (I paid 170 pounds for two nights), it is acceptable. But don't except a luxurious stay. My third night in London was spent at Radisson Hampshire on Leicester Square. Now, that is a fine hotel.

Stayed for 3 nights for bed and breakfast and easy access into the streets of London and of Harrods. The breakfast was delightful and the accommodation was a dream. Didn't like the bathroom configuration but we were only there for a jumping off address.

This was a nice hotel in a very handy location (I was meeting people in Fulham the next day). The room was small but the rate I paid you can't expect a huge room, it was also very clean and there was a fridge, safe and tea/coffee making facilities. The staff were universally pleasant and helpful, and particularly those at breakfast time. The only drawback was that I was given a room right beside the lift on the third floor, which meant that I could hear people coming in and out and chatting from early in the morning. Not ideal. If I was booking again I would ask for a different room. Apart from that though, I enjoyed the stay and would recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid room 343 - it's a single room right beside the lift on the third floor.

This hotel has an extremely nice and elegant atmosphere - very old school London. I stayed in a single room which was fairly small, but when you are in London you don't spent much time in your room do you? The service in the reception and restaurant was outstanding. The staff was professional and very friendly. My only "complain" was a young bartender who wasn't smiling or at least trying to be serviceminded. I will definitely book a room in this hotel next time I'm in London and I will recommend it to everyone.
