“Wedding weekend at the Dukes.”
Reviewed October 11, 2011

The most frendly and helpful service ever. The location could't be better close to Jermyn street shops, Trufitt & Hill, Lock & sons and all superb pubs so close by. The martinis at the bar and atmosphere in the tea garden are superb. This was the second stay at the Dukes and we will be back for shure. They made us feel welcome and our wedding stay special.
Love my wife, London and the Dukes!

We loved this hotel. The rooms are super super clean, bed is comfortable and the size of the room was large. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Its in a great location and close to lots of attractions and shopping. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

I have been to The Dukes years ago, the hotel had that old style charme so typical of English hotels that I want to enjoy in a moment in which every hotel looks like the other.
The bar is super famous for serving the best Martini in town and is still a meeting point even if very small.
Breakfast is a nightmare. 1 hour for toast and a basket of pastries: too much!!!!
The new rooms lost the personality

Thank you for your review, we gratefully welcome all feedback.

Alessandro, our Bar Manager was delighted with your comment regarding the ‘Best Martini’! The bar is of an intimate size; however we always try to accommodate everyone, albeit for a short while in our beautiful Perrier Jouet Champagne Lounge or Drawing Room.

With regards to breakfast service, if you would be so kind as to contact me directly, I would very much like to ascertain a few more details to enable us to further investigate.

We would love to welcome you back to DUKES on your next trip to London; we still have rooms with the ‘old style charm’ you so fondly remember. When planning your next trip, I would urge you to contact our Reservations Team directly, who would be delighted to ensure you have a room that is perfect for your requirements – Indeed we suggest to all guests that they contact us directly as it gives us the opportunity to help assemble the perfect stay.

Kind regards,
Charlotte

I had a great stay at Dukes last week - great service and a really lovely room which was beautifully quiet tucked away in the centre of London. Such a good location.

Thanks Dukes - I would recommend you unhesitatingly.

Have just arrived home from a stay in the Dukes and will definitely be going back. Steeped in history, beautiful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Sheer luxury!! The martini bar was a real treat but unfortunately on our second visit my husband was refused entry due to dress code. Rather frustrating as we pointed out others in the bar not complying to the dress code - so beware. Quiet location but so handy and within walking distance of everything we wanted to see.

Thank you for your review, I have passed your comments on to our team. Our bar is somewhat of an institution and we endeavor to maintain the traditional feel, to this end, at our Bar Manager’s discretion, we do ask our guests to comply to our dress code of smart casual attire and no sportswear. I do hope that you were still able to enjoy your second martini! We hope to welcome you back soon.
Kind regards,
Charlotte

We stayed for 5 days at the Dukes. It is a fabulous hotel; great service. Loved the Martini bar and do not even drink Martinis. Staff friendly and very helpful. Room and bathroom and immaculate but, at these prices, surely all rooms should at least be big enough to accommodate an armchair. Rather cramped for a longish stay.

Room Tip: Don't go for standard double - far too small

Thank you for kind comments regarding the team at DUKES. I’m glad that you enjoyed your stay and took the opportunity to try our famous martinis! Our Classic rooms, which you make reference to, are our standard double occupancy rooms, for a longer leisure stay, our Luxury rooms have a far more spacious feel with a sofa and coffee table area too. I do hope we have the chance of welcoming you both back to DUKES in the near future.
Kind regards,
Charlotte

Dukes Hotel is classic British refinery in a boutique setting. Think floral wallpapers, matching bedspreads and curtains, and mint green carpet runners. I have no complaints about this place, and they make a mean and famous martini table-side a la guacamole in the lobby bar, but overall this place was just not my style as it is extremely stuffy (but not pretentious), just very Mr. Belvedere. Rooms are spacious as are the bathrooms. Staff is excellent. Tucked away down a small street just off the beaten path of Picadilly off of St. James. Not conveniently located, but decidedly discreet and quiet. Fortnum & Mason, Mayfair shopping are a 5 - 10 min walk.
