Booked several months in advance for a theatre break. About 2 weeks before we tweeted the Cavendish and explained it was our 30th birthday. They sent a lovely reply and promised a few surprises.

Check in was lovely with a lady from New Zealand who was very personable and interested in our stay. We were upgraded to a higher class of room, had a sponge cake sent up and a bottle of champagne!

The room had amazing views. We could see Big Ben, the Eye and several other landmarks. It wasn't huge but given its London and we were there to explore it was perfectly fine. During our stay the hotel tweeted us to wish us well which was great. They do quite a lot of special deals via social media so check it out.

The bathroom smelt faintly of drains for a short part our stay but not enough to mention to staff late at night. When I explained at checkout that I thought they should know they thanked us profusely, apologised and went to organise an engineer which was nice to see as some hotels just give a stock answer and do nothing.

Breakfast was lovely and our room service was excellent. Fab location with no city noise in the bedrooms.

Dear Stepaway,

Happy belated 30th Birthday and i am glad we were able to make it a bit more special for you.
The lady from New Zealand you describes is Deina who has been with us only a few months and in this period has proved to have the ture Cavendish spirit.
Would you mind telling me which room you were staying in? This way i can follow up on the faint drainage smell and make sure this has been resolved. My contact details are roy.sommer@thecavendishlondon.com.

We hope to see you again soon

Sales, restaurant and theatre weekend for us at The Cavendish! The hotel was perfect for this type of visit to London. Perfect location, room bit small but ok for the time we spent in it but great view across the City and to be fair well appointed. Good concierge service and all staff polite and helpful. Enjoyed our stay.

Dear Mabo333,

Our concierge team will be very happy to get a mention as sometimes they are overlooked so thank you for that.
As you said our location is perfect for guests wanting to do some shopping or to watch a how as most Theatres are within walking distance. Also there are so many restaurants in Central London that its a certainty you will find somewhere nice to go or ask concierge to make a recommendation.

We look forward welcoming you back soon

Nice clean fairly modern hotel in a fantastic location. This was our second time staying here and would return again. Walking distance to Bond St, Oxford St, Leicester Sq, Regent St, Coventry Garden etc. Rooms are a bit small but more than adequate unless you are planning to spend a lot of time there. We travelled with a baby and found the cot was set up and waiting for us in the room. Baby towel and bib were also provided which is unusual and a nice touch. Location was important for us as we didn't want to mess around with a buggy on the tube, this was perfect, we didn't get a tube or taxi at any point during our stay as we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go without any problem. recommended for anybody who wants a relatively reasonably priced hotel in the heart of London shopping and theatre district.

We stayed this hotel for three nights after Xmas. Very easy access to major shopping areas. Bond streets, Regent Street, Oxford Street; all walkable.
The hotel seems recently renovated and functional. Also, easy access to LHR via metro.
We would come back again.

Dear Geharigo,

Hope you had a good flight back to Tokyo and i am pleased that you commented on our reachability from Heathrow.
From Heatrow there is a direct line to both Green Park and Piccadilly circus station of which the Cavendish is located in between. You could be from Heatrow to checked into your room in an hours time which gives you more time to shop.
Our location is great for exploring Bond street, Regent street and Oxford street aswell as having Leicester Square and Covent Garden within easy wlaking distance.
Glad you enjoyed Christmas in London and all the best for 2013

We travelled to London for business. In retrospect, staying in St. James area was not ideal as there was always high congestion on Piccadilly and lots of traffic to get to the city center. Also, even from the hotel, cabs were not easily accessible.

We extended our stay for an extra weekend to discover London. We loved the location of the hotel. We were close to a lot of shopping and attractions.

Rooms are small but clean (very small for North American standards).
Lobby looks good.

Tip: If you need a cab, I suggest you book in advance.

Overall - a very good experience.

Dear Travelstyle060,

Thank you for posting your feedback on tripadvisor and apologies for the somewhat delayed response.
Unfortunatly central London can get a bit congested at times with all the traffic coming in and out and it does happen that Taxi's get stuck in the middle of it.
In case you need a taxi just as our concierge team te get you one and they will go out and find one to pick you up on the hotels doorstep, or as you mentioned order one in advance.
I am glad that you thought your stay was a very good experience overall eventhough you thought your room was a bit small.
We hope you will stay with us again should you visit London again

Just returned from one night at the Cavendish and it was excellent in all respects. The check-in staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and I felt they took a genuine interest in me, rather than treating me as just another face through the door. Other hotels take note!

I asked for a quiet room and was allocated a lovely 'classic' room on the 12th floor which had fantastic views all across London, from the palace of Westminster and Big Ben right across to Post Office Tower and beyond. Given that this was the most basic of their rooms, it was still very well-equipped, very comfortable and with the usual luxuries. The bathroom was compact and very clean and tidy. A bath robe would have been nice, but it's not the end of the world is it?

I hadn't booked breakfast, and thought that £22 was a little steep to add it on, so I had a wander and found a coffee shop nearby, so can't comment on the food, although the menu certainly sounded nice.

On checking out, a different member of staff asked me how an event I had mentioned to her colleague had gone; this was a nice touch, and they had obviously made a note when I checked in. This is the sort of thing which really separates excellent hotels from good ones.

All in all then, no complaints from me and would certainly recommend this to anyone wanting a top-class hotel in a lovely area of London.

Room Tip: Top floors have a fantastic view over London - and there is less lift traffic.

Dear Alun4475,

Thank you for having taken the time out to write about your recent experience at The Cavendish.
We pride ourselfs on having a team of special people creating special experiences, and i have forwarded your review on to all the teams to show them that they exceeded in making you feel special and welcome.
For the future if you book breakfast directly when booking your room the cost is £15 instead of £22.50, maybe something to keep in mind as our breakfast has been rated as one of the best in London. Although we do not provide bathrobs in our classic rooms we can provide them on request, next time just call reception and they will have one delivered to your room.
We hope to see you back again shortly

My friend booked this hotel to celebrate my 60th Birthday and it was the perfect place. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The bar was also very welcoming in the evening with complimentary nibbles on the tables, very comfortable and good atmosphere. The room was excellent, very clean with good facilities available. The breakfast was really good and thoroughly appreciated. The location is excellent too and the whole stay was extremely good and I would thoroughly recommend staying at this hotel.

Room Tip: We stayed in a Superior room and it was really good.

Dear Holscanbgd,

Happy Belated 60th birthday and i am glad we were able to make your birthday and stay extra special.
Thank you for your commenst about our staff and breakfast as these are areas in which we have invested a lot of time and money. We are in the middle of planning a soft refurbishment for the bar to make it even more welcoming so we hope to see you back once that work is all completed.
