The old fashioned style of the hotel was really appealing to me as it is more comfortable than the more sterile city hotels. It gave it more character. The bar was nice and the rooms were of a good standard, with a large bathroom. The breakfast was very enjoyable with a good selection of both continental and English breakfast. The staff were very attentive and always ready to help. I would definitely use this hotel again as it provides a good level of comfort and is in an ideal location for connections to the tube. It's location on Hyde Park is also a bonus.

This hotel is in a great location and is very good value for money. All the staff make you feel very welcome and at home. It is old-fashioned but makes a pleasant change to so many modern hotels which have no character. If you're used to 5-star luxury this is not the place for you because the decor is tired and in need of improvement. But the service more than makes up for it, as does the delicious full English breakfast. The hotel has a small, cosy bar with drinks at very reasonable prices and a lovely outdoor terrace for warmer evenings. This was our second visit and we will definitely go back again.

Stayed here during my 4 day stay here in London.

Location was great as it was within a 2 min walk to Lancaster gate station, and a 10 min walk to Paddington station.

The breakfast included was sufficient, thou if you require meat and eggs, you'd need a £6 top up.

Decor of the place was very classic, and had a very rustic l and homely feel to it. The faux fireplace at the lobby was a nice touch

Rooms were a little small thou, and got a little chilly at night.

Stayed at this hotel for a concert at the Albert Hall, close to tube staion and a couple of other restaurants and bars, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the decor was old but somehow it fitted in with the hotels ambiance, the restaurant menu was basic but good, our room was a basement suite and comfortable, but there was a rumble of the underground, not loud enogh to complain about and not through the night so ok, rates were reasonable and would definitely stay here again.

Although the hotel is looking a little tired, the location is very good - next to the underground services and the buses, but not too much traffic noise.

We had a last minute booking, which was possibly the reason we had a room on the third floor which was clean, but which needed to be updated.

The staff are very helpful and efficient, and although the menu is limited, the restaurant is good enough if you arrive late or don't want to go out to eat. We had the continental breakfast, and it was more than adequate.

The main thing going for this place is location, location, location ..... right on top of the tube, and easy bus links, hyde park in front gives good view and outdoor space ...

Decor a bit 'dated' and run-down, beds small, plumbing not 'ideal', really more a 2-star than a 3-star in room quality ... staff are 'good' (all Europeans, not english) and for London, a 'pretty good price/quality ratio ...

great for if you want a 'good location' without paying too much ..

Room Tip: If you're 'claustrophobic' by the small lift, choose a 'lower floor room', but y...

Just spent a long weekend here, and although the service is good this old hotel looks and feels very tired; it could do with a good overhaul. The staff were all very friendly which is the main ingredient for me, but if you have any fear of lifts or confined spaces the ones here wouldn't do a lot to change your anxiousness. Only ate breakfast here and both the continental and cooked versions were better than average but nothing more. Location is good with a tube station just across the junction, and Paddington just a five minute walk away. It is also just outside the congestion zone if travelling by car, and if possible best approached from the west along the Bayswater Road. To find the car park look for the Swan public house on the left and turn left immediately into Elms Mews - the car park is then on the right and a buzzer will notify reception your need to enter the building. It cost twelve pound a day for the privilege of parking here for residents - twenty for non residents. If you like walking this is a good spot, just over the road is the Italian Garden, Kensington Garden, Hyde Park and Serpentine and this will take you through to Buckingham Palace via the new Bomber Command memorial which is well worth a look and situated next to Wellington Arch. Winter wonderland is on in Hyde Park on the run up to each Christmas, and is completed with open air ice rink and plenty of German sausage and beer outlets if that’s your bag. The Swan, a local pub nearly next door to the hotel serves moderately good food and of course ale and the Island restaurant directly opposite the Hotel serves food to a fair standard and at a reasonable cost. Wi Fi connectivity is good throughout the venue, and I would have no real issues with using this hotel again.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back of the Hotel are quieter, but there is a roof terrace at the back which may be...
