“Not quite worth the money”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

Stayed in the Washington Mayfair in september 2012. I had looked forward to staying in this centrally located first class hotel in London, but unfortunately the did not quite meet my exspectations.
Rooms are quite big and clean, bathrooms small, TV pretty complicated to work out, had to go through the same long introduction every time the tv was turned on, rooms was very warm, and I cold not figure out how to turn the heat off, breakfast was not really that great - and both mornings I waited for 10 minutes and then acutally I had to ask the waitress to be served and not the other way around, that is simply just no good enough for a hotel who claims to be first class.
Service at the front desk and by the consierge was good.
The hotel has a great central location, close to Green Park Subway station and in walking distance to Picadelly Cirkus, the shopping on Regent and Oxford Street and the Theaters on Haymarket.
So If the room rate had been half of what they actually charge you, I would have been quite satisfied, but at the rate they actually charge you, the hotel came out as a big dissapointment.
So if you want a first class hotel with a great location, there certainly must be better options in London.

A bakingly hot and dirty room. What kind of a hotel doesn't clean before the guests arrive? A massive crack inexpertly filled with mastick in the bidet. You'd be better off going to a Travelodge. They get away with charging so much because it's in Mayfair. I think there may be a few guests here with Emperor's clothes syndrome.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else!

A top class hotel.
Booked for a romantic break with partner, originally a king deluxe room however were upgraded to the Junior Suite just prior to our arrival!
The reception/concierge is very helpful and extemely professonal (our bags were taken to the room while we went for a walk after check in).
Location wise, the hotel is almost perfect, minutes from Green Park station, has a tesco express across the road along with costa coffe, restaurant and a few bars/pubs!
The heart of Mayfair is a short walk away and Oxford Street is a stones throw - what more could you want?!.
The suite itself was sizeable, however is a studio, so you get a big room with a large bed, sofa, 2 arm chairs and desk. There is a jet wash bath, with shower and usual array of toiletries. Couldnt fault it, spacious, very clean, very tidy and had everything you needed (iron/ironing board were provided upon request). Unlike some central london hotels, there was no disturbance with traffic noise as the hotel is situated off the main road.
The room prices are steep, think the hotel believes itself to be 5 star, I would say its close but not there yet despite its locality. Maybe if you want to pay for the suites (£300+) then you'll enjoy a first class experience otherwise it may not be the case...

Room Tip: Try the suites if budget allows

I was staying 3 nights at Washington Mayfair and I would strong recommend any traveller either on business or leisure to try this property, Location is simple convenient and perfect , on the very heart of Mayfair and we coud move easily to any sigh of interest of London .., walking distance to Regent Strett, Oxford Street, Picadilly , Covent Garden ect.
But to me being location a hotel key point, the best of The Washington was the very attentive and friendly hotel staff we meet, either at reception ( incl.spanish speaking that was nice for us being spanish) , restaurant or concierge! we felt like being at home. and this is what we expect from a hotel when we are away from home, ! thanks to hotel team.

Was there on a business trip. Price was good. Free wifi. Location excellent between Piccadilly, Kinghtsbridge and Oxford Street. Just next to Hyde Park. I would give 3-3.5 out of 5. Hotel is not modern or newly refurbished but this is the case with almost all London hotels. Area is safe and very accessible.

The location is the only thing this hotel has going for it. The service is horrible and the staff appears to be put off when you ask them anything. The rooms were decorated nicely but the temperature was ridiculously hot. This is the second time I stayed, with the same observations. Neither time was my personal choice or I would have stayed elsewhere. The breakfast buffet was poor as well. the eggs overcooked, the bacon cold. The work out room is a joke, one treadmil and it's broken.

I, too, stayed here with the CCSA program and I was fascinated with the place. The only thing I would ever have to make a negative note about is the size of the lifts, but even that wasn't something huge! I loved my stay there because it was so close to everything: Green Park Underground, various parks, the Original Hard Rock Cafe. Even the walk to Piccadilly Circus wasn't bad at all! It's in a prime location and it really was a gorgeous hotel. I would highly recommend it to anyone - and have, in fact!
