“Lovely hotel”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Stayed here in June 2012. Room was a fantastic size for London size, very spacious and modern. Bathroom was very modern and clean and had heat racks. Bed and pillows were super comfy. In a good location, tube stop within walking distance, and pubs nearby. Would definitely stay here again when i return to London.

This hotel ticks all the boxes!

Location is very good : near russel square tube and st pancras station(eurostar).

Staff are very friendly, professional and helpfull.
The hotel itself is clean and has a modern look. Breakfast was spotless, full english and continental food, service was top class!
Room, again very clean, recently refurbished with rather small bathroom but with rainshower (yes!!)
We enjoyed our stay 100%,and will def return on our next trip to london.

Room Tip: Room 403 is located at the front, gets noisy early in the morning.

Booked two nights at this hotel for a trip to the west end. Found the desk staff very courteous and help full throughout. Trying to make my stay cheaper and couldn't do enough to make my stay enjoyable. Food was good breakfast especially. Bar nice and comfortable. Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was spotless. All in all made a special weekend away that extra bit special. Any downsides are the walls are thin. All in all not cheap but for me value for money.

Today I was treated to an excellent champagne afternoon tea at the Mercure by a friend, and both the food and service were excellent. Delightful personnel didn't fuss us but were very efficient, and the sandwiches, scones, cakes and strawberries and cream were all fresh, tasty and delicious! Would definitely recommend as a venue for afternoon tea ..... the well-trained staff, including those greeting us at reception, made all the difference ...... a very good experience all-round!

Having paid £239 per night for two nights, (and being a Club Accor Platinum member:) we were disappointed with our room. We were told by receptionist that our standard double room had been upgraded and we had been given a very good room. However, when we got to our room we found the door opened straight on to the bed. Being at the end of the building the walls sloped downwards , hence the mirror above the 'dressing table' and the television screen sloped downwards too, making it awkward to view.. Bathroom was adequate but the heated towel rail was cold all the time and the plug in the bath wouldn't 'lock' so a shower was our only option. (I did try to have a bath, but had to keep my heel on the plug to keep it down and to prevent losing the water!) In addition the hot water flowed very slowly out of the sink tap. (We assumed this was because we were on the 7th floor.)

Also, on the first occasion I used the bath, I found some long hairs in the bath which weren't mine, as I have short hair.

Breakfast was also disappointing - only plates available for English Breakfast were small ones - we had to ask for larger ones. Only egg available was scrambled. Again, we had to ask for fried eggs, which finally arrived when we were about half-way through our breakfast.

On the plus side, toast and coffee arrived promptly and staff in the dining room were helpful and polite, as were reception staff. Hotel is in a good location with easy access to main tourist attractions and about 8 minutes walk to Underground. Plenty of local restaurants too.

We were thankful that we had paid for part of the reservation with Accor points, but also felt we had wasted 18,000 points and still had £200+ to pay the balance. Being regular users of Accor hotels, we were very disappointed this time.
