Being right on the south side of Lambeth Bridge sets this hotel as a gateway to explore London both north and south of the river. Exit hotel door turning left, walk over the Lambeth Bridge and you are minutes walk from the main sites of Westminster starting with the Houses of Parliament and thereafter all the rest.

Alternatively, exit the hotel front door turning right, cross the street, under the railway bridge then turn left into Hercules Road and you are in Lambeth North in five minutes brisk walk.

There you find the Lambeth North tube station for complete access to London on the underground plus some nice local amenities like: a Japanese sushi and noodles restaurant on the corner, several small convenience stores and - halfway between the hotel and Lambeth - the Corner Cafe for great British Eastend meals and cups of tea.

The hotel has underground parking which costs 24pounds per 24hours (ouch but hey this is central london). If you do come in a car remember this is inside the congestion zone so you also need to pay for that quite apart from your hotel arrangement.

The gym, spa, sauna in basement is good but am told be careful the showers have one temp: TOO HOT! The gym is basic - a decent set of dumbells and some cardio machines. But you can find a a bowl of green apples by the entrance.

Hotel rooms small but OK. Ours was a twin which meant I had to fold up the sofa bed as we needed only the one bed and to leave space to walk around the room.

Cost was 120pounds for a night, given the location I say OK and this is my second visit. I would come here for a repeat next year. But I would also seek cheaper competitive offers.

Room Tip: a room with a view at front will be noisy with ambulance sirens from the hospital

We spent a night in this hotel en route to an old friends birthday in Guildford, having spent a night there on a visit to the National Theatre last November. As we had a busy day the next day we decided to dine in without great expectations. The food was a pleasant surprise, definitely a cut above the normal chain hotel fare. My wife's duck confit compared with her ultimate standard, a bistro in the Isle de France many years ago. My pork (british pork) escalope on a bed of apple and white cabbage was delicious, better than in many a pretentious restaurant.
The staff were unfailingly helpful and friendly. For breakfast they have a good selection of speciality teas and unless I am mistaken the croissants are French. The buffet is fresh and a good selection. The rooms are clean and comfortable.
They even seem to have the taxi drivers on side so no long waits for taxis.

Thank you for your review and for using us again. I will personally pass your wonderful comments to the Food and Beverage team, it is nice to be recognised and praised for the efforts we put in delivering good food and good service. You are not mistaken " les croissants" are French. For your information, we have just launched our new menu last week and we will also have a freshly made pizza menu available from next month. I look forward to welcoming you again soon.

A really good location that is close to the London Eye via a short walk. The hotel rooms are very nice, not flashy but good. The room was very clean and the staff are very, very nice. The room I stayed in (313) was very quiet , over night. The breakfast was very good . The experience overall was very good.

Stayed here for business.

Entire upper building smells of cigarette smoke, beds very uncomfortable, poor quality blurred TV channels with hardly any selection.

Internet is 20 pounds a night.

Resteraunt is expensive but nice food. Beer 4 pounds for 330ml.

Whatever you do don't spend your own money here, expenses only.

Premier inns are 10x more comfortable and much higher quality.

Would be 2 stars if not for location.

I think you would be hard pressed to find a better hotel for the price in London. Realistically this is only a 4 star hotel but due to a lack if availability we got upgraded - no quibbling and no extra cost. Got a very recently returned room with one of the best views in London (Lambeth Palace, Houses of Parliment etc). 5 mins walk to South Bank so location is excellent.
