“Quality Food at Reasonable Prices”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2013

I have eaten here on a number of occasions and have always found the food to be very good, lots of it and very reasonably priced. There is wide variety of dishes on the menu and the food is served promptly. Perhaps not the friendliest waiters in the world but they get the job done.

“Food delicious, service weird!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2013 via mobile

On walking in the waiter looked is up and down and curtly informed us that we would be welcome in the FRONT part of the restaurant, next to the bar (the part without table cloths, padded chairs or place settings).
A wine list seemed an awful lot of trouble and he got cork in the glasses.

We wanted to try the paella but there was a 45 wait and frankly we didn't have the time or patience so ordered a selection of tapas and repeated our request for bread and olives. Bread was stale and served with butter not oil; and I was rapidly losing patience with the whole place.

But then the tapas started arriving. Huge portions worthy of a main course, to the extent we insisted on setting an itemised bill at the end to check we hadn't been charged a full portion. The dishes were delicious and extremely good value; it's a shame that they all arrived at the same time so the food was cold by the time we got half way through.

If they manage to conquer their bizarre approach to customer service this place could be a must. Currently it's just a "must of you're stood right outside".

“Nice relaxed place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

Had a nice meal here with friends. It's very friendly and relaxed. Not haute cuisine and if I am honest I am not sure about Portuguese tapas but the prawns in garlic and mussels were really nice. Not too expensive for London either.

“Great value for money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2013

Went here for a meal on a budget when on a course with work down London around 2 years ago (earliest I could put on the review was July 2012 but we went in 2011).
Our budget was under £25 which we thought we'd struggle to accommodate in London.
This place fit the bill nicely, we ate here twice in the space of 5 nights.
Starter, main and dessert, including two drinks came in under the £25 budget. Obviously that was 2 years ago so it's likely the prices have gone up now. I can't remember the starter, but the main of venison and a dessert of lemon cheesecake were unforgettable.
The portions were very generous (expected one slice of cheesecake, ended up with THREE!), we struggled to finish them off, but due to how tasty they were it would have been a shame not to.
The atmosphere was also good, full both times we went in midweek, couples, business customers, and a few people eating by themselves too, so this place should appeal to a broad range of visitors.

Would definitely go back if in London again.

“Great food under the railway arches”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2013

Picos never disappoints.
The tapas are always delicious, Octopus a la Galega, calamari, chorizo in wine, chicken croquettes.
The red and rose wines are uniquely Portuguese and worth taking home from the shop next door. Sagres beer.
Fillet and Espetata regionale steaks were perfectly cooked and tender. Stroganoff and sea bass very tasty. The menu never changes but it is a big one and I must have the paella next time i go!
Great value for big parties.
