“Dont even try”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

We visited this restaurant on our first day in London and we almost formed an opinion that all Indian restaurants in London are this rubbish. We ordered the standard Butter chicken and Nan; not wanting to experiment too much. Even this we were terribly disappointed. Butter chicken had no tomato gravy in which it is normally cooked neither the mustard oil or the Kasoori methi. Totally hopeless and cost a bomb. My wife ended sleeping hungry. DO NOT VISIT.

“Very good... but tight space!”

We used trip advisor and found this place near our hotel. The interior is extremely small, small to the point you are sitting next to other patrons as if they are part of your party. Don't let that deter you from trying this place.

I have never had Indian food and I was not disappointed. Most dishes are served family style. Our table ordered the vegetable curry, basmati saffron rice, tandoori chicken, Naan bread - hot, unbelievably good (garlic and plain), and hot tea. We did not order anything spicy hot as we were forewarned! The food was very good and plenty to share.

The vegetable curry was spiced nicely with curry and not too hot. The olive oil added a nice touch and great for dipping the naan. The rice was perfectly cooked, but be careful of the whole spices... they are large enough to see, but I do not recommend eating. The tandoori chicken was slightly dry, but still very tasty. The naan was the best part of the meal... served hot with 3 different types of dipping sauces; very good without anything other than a little olive oil.

The cons: Very close seating and the waiters "push" to order items which you may not want. In addition, the hand writing on the receipt is very difficult to read - make sure you pay for only what was delivered/ordered.

“Never again”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2012

This Indian restaurant on Queensway (Basewater) is having a nice wooden exterior and is stating ‘under same management since 1967’. If that’s the case, they have to do some serious work on the way they run their business. I ordered Chicken tikka masala and rice. The food was very average; instead of the normal creamy, spiced and orange-colored sauce the dish was unappetizing grey and without any masala (mixes of spices) at all. When I mentioned this, the waiter just took the dish and sent it to the kitchen with a patronizing look on his face. Some time later it came back, hardly with any new spices added. I had wine, a dessert and coffee. I asked if they had espresso? Yes, of course! I was served instant coffee for the somewhat mind-blowing price of UKP 4,85! In all, no relationship between price and quality. I would rate it a typical tourist rip off. Average food. Very average service and uninvolved waiters. Expensive prices (charging extra for rice, bread etc) and a mandatory service charge of 10% on top means that this place is poor value for money. Avoid.

“Do not eat here”

Charged us £5 for a couple of pieces of Papadom which you get for free in most Indian restaurants. Service was horrible and food was just typical. Waiter was surly and rude.
