It's really fun to watch the change of guard here at the Horse Guards Parade grounds but do not miss the museum about the history of this regiment.
Most fun bit is to try out the different uniforms of the cavalry.
My kid enjoyed it.
Although, 20pounds is a bit much for a family ticket to such a small museum.
The old lady at the reception is a bit stiff, but the rest of the staff was quite warm and helpful. Get the feee audio guide.

We were able to see the Horse Guard parade up close and personal and then head over to the Changing of the Guard at the palace since we were there on a Sunday. Totally worth it since we didn't feel like standing to see the full pomp and circumstance of the palace guards. However, we were able to see all the different sets of guards march up to the palace after the Horse Guard Parade and feel we saw enough.

I’ve seen full parades in former visits, so the changing of the horse guards was not awe inspiring as the parades are, but they still provide a glimpse into the majesty of British tradition. The crowd came and went between the changing, so we were able to move around and get different views. Definitely worth it!

For someone coming from a country that we rarely see horses, this is really an interesting sight.

We didn’t bother to book any tour as we made our way there before 11am and waited for the horse guards to turn out. Enjoy!

Included with the London Pass, otherwise would not pay to see it. See some horses and the guard museum. That's it.

We were walking to Horse Guards and Whitehall when the Household Cavalry passed us and rode into Horse Guards Parade. What a treat - we just happened to be there! Well worth a walk down here to see what’s going on. Great to see this wonderful piece of tradition.

I think the changing of the Queen's Horse Guards was my favorite part of our London trip. This is something that happens daily at 11:00 a.m. at the stables on Whitehall. My husband and I, plus hundreds of others, were willing to endure a chilly rain to watch this ceremony. And, it was so worth it. Before the ceremony, we stopped at the gates for a picture of me and one of the Horse Guards (with horse of course). That was a real treat. There are signs warning the horse might be aggressive, but this beautiful black horse was a perfect. We then moved toward the staging area behind the stables to await the ceremony. First, the new team of guards and horses came out from inside the stables and took their place to wait for the change of teams. After a while, we saw horses and riders coming down the hill to enter the staging area where the change would take place. Once both teams of guards and horses were in the staging area, they stood in formation for quite a long time waiting for an order. The discipline of the horses and their riders was amazing. After about 20 minutes, the new team left to return up the hill to the Palace. We really enjoyed the ceremony and would recommend it to anyone to wants to see British pomp at its best.

You cannot beat Britain for pomp and pageantry: my wife and I saw the changing of the guard at Whitehall, and enjoyed the spectacle. Be there before 11 a.m. for the best views, as it is fairly crowded. Both the guardsmen and horses are spectacular.

Parade starts at Whitehall. You can try to keep up with the horses but good luck. Instead, once they leave, just head straight down the Mall where they eventually walk down as well as they head toward the palace gate. Very cool, very prestigious. A must see
