This is a surprising hotel that boasts five stars. However, one is left with a feeling of just how on earth did the hotel gain these. The main issue with the hotel is its location, for the type of hotel it is trying to be, it is really inaccessible from the main city centre areas of the West End and Westminster. The best transport link is by train from Victoria to Clapham junction, and then a brisk 10 minute walk through a residential area, park and across a main road. Perhaps I am cynical as most five star guests will be travelling by car - when they can take advantage of the concierge parking, or alternatively, just arrive by helicopter at London Helicopter port which is adjacent to the hotel.

The hotel is one which i feel is striving to be five star rather than deserving of it at present. My booking was for a room with a city view, and I ended up with the view of the back of some buildings. I raised this with the reception, to be informed that one was not available, but i had been upgraded to an executive room.

It is entertaining to be able to sit in one of the hotel's restaurants and watch the travellers arriving by helicopter with their Harrods's bags. be warned however, the prices are not that reasonable. A glass of wine can set you back by as much as £12.00, the service is average and the food reasonable.

The only consolation is that fact that the price you will pay for a room here is much less than what you would expect to pay for a city centre location.

Overall, some improvements to service should be looked at, as well as some of the prices. Otherwise, i would recommend staying here as long as you don't mind the additional cost of getting into town.

Room Tip: Insist on a city view, regardless of the excuses offered by the hotel

I stayed here with my partner for three nights and I couldn't ask for better. This hotel is rated 5* and so it should be upon our arrival we were greeted by staff who were extremely helpful and polite easy check in, they even upgraded us for free! The room was modern with such a beautiful view, king size bed, materialistic leather chairs, black glass tables and cabinets espresso machine, 50inch flat screen tv with free view. the bathroom was tiled with a bath tub and separate shower which was very spacious with a television in there too. Staff were always smiling and were very friendly when leaving the hotel and when coming back to the room. Breakfast was really good choice with the choice of hot and cold with extremely good coffee, I would recommend this hotel to anybody, also you get free access to the spa area which has many choices what to do, jacuzzi, swim, sauna, steam room, foot bath, brilliant! Very pleased.

I have stayed here a couple of times - availing of the £99 internet rate which represents good value. That said and although the hotel do offer a shuttle to Sloan Square, the distance out of more central areas is an issue and the nearest main commuter station is Vauxhall. The service at reception is business like and not welcoming but this is contrasted by the service in both the chinese restaurant on site and the mezzanine restaurant. The standard of the rooms is very high and the beds are comfortable, and if you get a view of the heliport, it is quiet and spectacular. I would recommend it but wish the hotel would pay a little more attention to customer service and detail.

We were both really looking forward to staying here, however as soon as we got to reception to check in things started to turn a little grey. We were told our booked room was flooded and would we mind staying at a different hotel. We booked this particular hotel as we had a family function nearby, so said we'd prefer not to. "No problem" we were told, we would be upgraded. Got to our room, but although there were two towel sets/robes etc there was only one small bottle of water, one glass, and one selection of coffee for the machine in the room. Not ideal for two. Shoe buff cloth was missing from its box in drawer. Bulb in wardrobe was missing, as were two of the four bulbs around the mirror in the bathroom. Along with a glass shelf from the alcove in the bathroom. We discovered that the handheld shower in the bath had no means of being operated, and when we pulled it out of its housing, stale water with unidentifiable 'bits' in poured into the tub. Gross. The walk-in shower was lovely, but attempting to change the overhead to the handheld was a challenge as there was no handle to grip onto on the control, despite a threaded screw evident to house one.

When we checked out, we were not asked if we were happy with our stay. I tried, in the most English of ways, to give some feedback, but was given short thrift.

Bed was extremely comfortable!

Room Tip: Avoid 315 until they sort the mentioned issues out.

We stayed one night before doing some christmas shopping. Nice hotel, and good facilities, our room was very nice, overlooking the heliport (very little noise when taking off and landing). Its a bit off the tourist trail (unless you have your own helicopter), but right by The Thames, and walking distance to Battersea Park. Staff were very friendly though there could do with being a little better information about the Spa in the rooms (the page on the smart TV for "spa" only mentioned the gym).

The stuff in Verta hotel is fantastic! Everyone from front-office and breakfast restaurant is very nice and helpfull.
Breakfast buffet was refilled perfectly, but choice responds only to English breakfast (cold-cereals, choice of fresh fruit, ham and salami, some cheese and smoked salmon; hot- scrambled and fried eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes and mushrooms), but we didn´t find any vegetables.
Room was very nice but hotel information leaflets on desk were visibly used and a bit demaged. Bathroom amanities were in creased boxes and it wasn´t refilled and towels were messed up by makeup (which I don´t use). Minibar was not refilled.

This hotel is a little way from theatre land. However it is a lovely hotel. We ate in the Chinese restaurant on out arrival. The food was lovely and tasty albeit a little pricey. The room was lovely and comfortable and the separate bath and shower cubicle was a lovely surprise. Would certainly stay there again.
