Just spent a weekend at the Hotel Verta in Battersea, the hotel is very nice, lovely rooms and amazing beds, with a small but nice spa. BUT the position of the hotel is rubbish, I spent the whole weekend on buses, tubes and taxis, it is not convienent for any where expect Chelsea, where you can get a lift into from the hotels car, but you cant get it back and it doesnt go at night. So consiquently you are for ever using public transport. The only other complaint is breakfast, it is served in what is the bar in the evening, so you have to to eat off coffee tables, which I think is unacceptable. Apart from that it was fine.

I have stayed at Hotel Verta twice let's start with the 5-start qualities of the hotel:
- The porters, all of them, were extremely professional with very high level of attention to detail;
- Great room facilities (apart from iron and ironing board on request);
- The majority of the staff at the bar/restaurant was superb.

I don't walk fast but it would not take me more than fifteen minutes to get to the train station which is well connected with other London main stations. It takes under five minutes to go to the bus stop then another five minutes to reach the train station even during the busy hours. Alternatively, £6 in a taxi. The free shuttle mini-bus service to Sloane Square is a bonus.

For the restaurant...as said the majority of the staff was very good, very caring; it was occassionally under-staffed hence took a little while to be served. With regard to the food, the a la carte menu was good value (three courses + a soft drink at approximately £30) and they allowed me to mix and match items across menus - the pineapple desert was really delicious. I tried the buffet on Mother's Day - neither quite my cup of tea nor a wide range of choices but not bad. The breakfast was pretty good although it was a shame that I was not allowed to swap the full breakfast to an order at the new 'egg station'.

The only negativity was, the restaurant was not aware of the discount offered to the hotel guests however, when mentioned to the reception the bill was rectified somehow - to a smaller discount than it was advertised.

The pool is not big but it wasn't busy when I visited so it was ok.

The reception team was really nice and friendly, slightly mixed up with messages and I didn't receive the complimentary newspapers but that was no big deal. Just one thing, if you booking doesn't include wi-fi in the room it costs £16 per 24 hours.

Hotel Verta was super good value for the price I paid for! Thank you!

Room Tip: Room at the first stay was better (newer, cleaner and brighter); room was booked directly from the H...

Hotel Verta is next to the Heliport in Battersea and is rated as a 5 star hotel! Prices for this Hotel are reasonable because of its distant location, a taxi ride to Sloane Square the nearest tube is £12 approx. The Courtesy bus/ride runs at certain times on a first come basis, so not so wonderful on closer examination.The rooms are excellently furnished and the spa area worth a visit although the "pool" is pretty small. The restaurant facilities are the facility that raises a question about 5 star status.The Bistro was the only dining experience available on an evening during my stay and has a very limited menu with 5 star bar prices so a question of value arises! On the 28th March a Chinese Restaurant opens so the Dining Experience broadens, Trip Advisor rated the Hotel 4.5. I question this because of the location, small bar area, limited reception availability when I booked in and the location is a problem/additional cost if you intend to explore London. So if you read 5 star add these issues to your bill calculations!

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the river, not next to the lifts and that swinging fire door noise! The Maids are...

Hotel is close to the bus stops but a very long walk to Clapham Junc 30 mins and through a very rough council estate so for a female travelling alone at night I would not advise. we had 2 standard rooms, very well equiped in both rooms, 1st room very clean but television in bathroom when turned on operated at full blast and then turned itself off after a minute, aircon could only be adjusted by ringing down to reception and getting them to set the temperature this got tiring as did having to go back down to replace the key cards after they failed to open the room door, reception also forgot to advise us when we checked in that the hotel operated a shuttle service to sloane square 4 times daily!! this would of been very useful rather than having to treck to Clapham J or get taxi's, 2nd room pillows were dirty which should never be the case in a 5* hotel. when we checked in we were not made aware that the restaurant was having a refurbishment and evening meal and breakfast was served in the bar area which is more like a lounge bar with low chairs/tables. Dinner was luke warm/cold which was a shame because it was excellent quality, breakfast was 5* apart from no black pudding. Spa great although some members of our party found it troubling that some fellow guests in their 70's were nudist in a public spa. Lacks 5* attention to detail!!

As part of my job I am required to travel and stay in many hotels. I found this hotel to be extremely well suited to my companies needs, and the staff were very friendly and accomodating. I will recommend this Hotel to my friends and work colleagues, and look forward to my next stay. My experience was one that deserves a 10 out of 10!

If this hotel were in a better location it would be a great place.

It is well appointed and we found the staff very friendly and helpful - couldn't do enough to help. Decent sized and well appointed rooms - fabulous shower and very very comfortable bed.

We had a view of the thames, the heliport and Battersea Power station - brilliant. We were disappointed no helicopters arrived during our stay as it would have been great to see that close up (we were assured we would not have any noise disturbance).

Breakfast was very pleasant, with attentive staff and in a nice relaxed eating area. Drinks were served to your table at very acceptable prices.

However the problem with this hotel is its location. Obviously if you travel by helicopter then it is excellent but for those of us who don't it is not so good. Clapham Junction train/overground is a 10 minute walk through some not so nice parts of Clapham - not something you'd want to do late at night. We got a taxi which cost us £7.50 - bit of a rip off for less than a mile.

If you are out and about in the area then it would be a fantastic stay - the hotel really is very decent and normally comes up on the last minute sites on a deal. However if you are out and about elsewhere it may not be for you.
