Owner description: At 400 years, the oldest pub in Covent Garden has hardly changed over the years and is proud of its heritage. A truely traditional English pub.

“Friendly, Cosy and Old”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2013

Always walked past the Lamb & Flag when strolling in Covent Garden as there is a constant milling of personages in the yard outside which leads one to believe that its rammed up inside. However, inclement weather and a later arrival allowed a maiden visit and one was not disappointed. The Lamb & Flag exudes atmosphere from every ancient bean and floorboard. The clientele seem more disposed to incursions than other local pubs and the bar staff are on the case and efficient.
Great little pub.

“Birthday lunch.......12th March 2013....Seriously forget the food here!!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2013

Place was really quirky and enjoyed the fact that this pub had history and served a good range of beers - but came here for lunch.
However the food was very poor and for that reason I would recommend that you only use L&F as a watering hole only otherwise you will be seriously put off ever going back......we ordered 2 fish and chips with bread and butter. Fish and chips was over ready.....shame on you £9.50 ( should have gone fish & chip shop) bread and butter...LOL....toast!!!!! when I explained bread and butter waitress did not have a clue..( toast for breakfast???).
Not slatig the place....just eat somewhere else otherwise you'll be really upset..

“Gem in the Heart of Covent Garden”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

Would like to say am an ardent fan of Fuller's pubs and visit them accordingly. So paid a visit to the Lamb and Flag in Covent Garden this afternoon in order to tick another off the list. Initially had drinks from the bar. Am not judging Fullers ales, but the service, atmosphere etc of the pub.
Didn't take long to be served in the busy post work pub, good start!, bar staff very attentive, think the guy behind the bar was called Bradley, certainly antipodean by origin . The atmosphere was very warm and cosy. We sampled the food from the menu. Food was delivered quickly, and very tasty, very tasty in fact. Each course we were given clean napkins and fresh cutlery a touch that I expect but don't always get from a restaurant let alone a pub. The cutlery I did give the once over and was spotless on both courses.
On leaving as we had sat in the corner of the bar, we had a look upstairs to the restaurant and were greeted by another cosy eating place.
Toilet facilities to add were very clean.

“Historic 'secret' pub in Covent Garden”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013

This is a historic vibrant pub tucked away down a side-street. You really have to know it's here to find it, and you'll definitely get kudos points from your friends for bringing them here. For added dramatic effect approach from Floral Street, and then dive down the covered alleyway.

It captures the essence of a historic pub, not by being an inspired pastiche designed by an agency, but simply by getting started 300 years ago, and not going away.

What's more, that timeliness gives it the self-assurance to just get on with the business of serving a good selection of fresh ales and pub food, without resorting to gimmicks.

Whether you're London and want to get away from the tourist dross for a while, or want to show some visitors the authentic London, this should be on your itinerary.
