As I write this, I genuinely struggle to know what to say. It's a good play, the cast are good, both Adrian Lester (Othello) and Rory Kinnear (Iago) fill their roles well, but something is missing - I'm really not sure what, the overall performance just doesn't pick you up and drag you towards its bloody conclusion as it should. What should be a rollercoaster of passion, jealousy and bloody madness turns out to be more of a lack lustre stroll through a bit of Shakespeare I once knew.

Should have loved it, wanted to love it, but in the end just couldn’t love it.

Excellent production of Edward II; radical, exciting and moving. Superb acting and gorgeous costumes and setting. Our tickets were £12 and were excellent value for money.
The National itself is brilliant. We had delicious tea and cake in the Olivier cafe, and for Central London, it was great value.
Simply the best in London.

The Royal National Theatre makes it difficult for the theatre-lover to go away with just one or two senses appeased. It overwhelms all.....!
It is charmingly located on the banks of the Thames.
The courtyard invariably has some exciting little free act of musical show just before the main.
The theatre cafe is eclectic - ranging from fast-food to gourmet cuisine.
The book-shop is to die for - either carry a stash or then make sure you're broke!
And finally - the show itself is classy and always value for money.

Saw Othello with my daughter and thoroughly enjoyed it. Rory Kinnear was ill that night but we loved it even so (my daughter saw it again a week later when he was back, said it was brilliant). Could not believe that the tickets had only cost twelve pounds each! Would recommend to anyone who enjoys Shakespeare and also to those who want to explore Shakespeare!

This is an amazing production of Othello. From start to finish the acting was top notch. The drama heighted and given a sharper edge by the wit.

We were on the edge of our seats throughout the performance, and were drawn in to the modern realistic world, that was created on stage.

A real must see.
