Premier Inn London Kensington (Olympia) Hotel

Earlier this year we stayed in Premier Inn in Ears Court which is only a few minutes away from this one and loved the location and the hotel as well.

This Premier Inn is slightly different purely because it is located in an old terrace rather than purpose built modern building. I can't judge all the rooms but ours was a fair bit smaller than the one we had in Earls Court Premier and shower/bathroom facilities are a bit dated as well (not much of a water pressure when you have a shower, our room only had a shower cubicle as there wasn't enough room for a bath, etc).

Premier Inn staff is very friendly whichever hotel you choose and this one was not an exception. Very friendly greeting, always ready to help and very warm team makes the world of a difference!

The only thing we noticed that caused an issue on Saturday morning was the lack of staff in the hotel. The manager seemed to be running from reception to kitchen to restaurant, then back to reception. We stayed from Thursday until Sunday and the only morning that caused some annoyance was Saturday. We came for breakfast just before 10am and were told there is a bit of a wait. There were 12 people waiting in a queue to have breakfast and despite there being quite a few empty tables we were told the kitchen was too busy and we had to wait. So we waited and waited. And waited. 40 minutes or so later, we finally got seated.

I appreciate it can get busy at a restaurant, but I only expected it to happen if there were too many visitors and not because the kitchen was not coping! I mean they had to cook sausages, eggs and scrambled eggs and heat beans up.. Surely that can't cause 40 minute wait?

Other than that, we enjoyed our stay. And an added bonus, we found out that at the back of the hotel (literally, the tiny tucked away street behind the hotel) is the house where Freddie Mercury lived until his last days. So there you go! :)

First time in a premier inn and not disappointed, everything was spotlessly clean. We just needed somewhere for I night in a good location for Wimbledon and this was perfect for us. If you didn't want to eat at the hotel plenty of other choices and a sainsburys was also close by. Would definitely stay here again!

Stayed here when visiting Ideal Home exhibition at Earls Court. The hotel was close by and closer to to the tube. Upon arrival the express check in machine provided our room key whilst the receptionist was attending to other guests. We found ALL of the staff to be super friendly and attentive and the hotel was extremely clean. The breakfast was very, very good and this is the best Premier Inn I have ever stayed in.

Over the last two weeks I've stayed at this PI for all but one night. It's typical in the Premier Inn style - always clean and always welcoming!

However, we worked late one night and arrived at the restaurant in time for our booked table at 8:30 only to be told they'd been very busy that night and there may be a delay in our food. As we'd just finished work, this didn't bother us as it gave us some time to sit and have a beer (only bottles as all the draught beer was empty and not available). Around 9:30 we noticed no food seemed to be coming out of the kitchen. Then at 9:45 some other tables which had been in the restaurant longer than us started complaining and something claiming to be edible arrived and was quickly sent back to the kitchen. Around this time the normally friendly and helpful staff seemed to vanish as though they knew a mutiny was on their hands. At 10, we called it a day and loaded the JustEat app on our iPhone and placed an order with a local pizza delivery company and phoned them to ask they make it and send quick as we desperately needed sustenance. The Pizza was great by the way :-)

Whilst waiting for a pizza, I logged onto Premier Inns site and informed them of this experience. I got a call from the new manager that had recently moved from another PI to take control and he confirmed he was putting in some fixes to ensure this experience doesn't happen again. He offered us a free meal for the following week, which tasted great, was delivered quickly and was everything we hope to get from a PI. I'm pleased to say, the following week under the new managers guidance food did seem better, things seemed better organised. Great!

Stayed for 3 nights in November, booked a double and used it as a single. Due to limited availability had booked and was given an adapted room which was very spacious, the shower was great too. Very comfy bed as is the norm with Premier Inn, some traffic noise which was to be expected given the location. 3 minute walk to a Tesco Superstore, 6 minute walk to Earl's Court station and 10 minute walk to Kensington High Street. My only niggle would be staff's local knowledge - they said there would be nowhere open to do money exchange at 6pm in the area when in fact the Metrobank and many exchange offices in Earl's Court Road were open and we were told that it was not possible to take a bus to Central london when in fact there is a stop 1 minute away (towards Tesco) which takes you to Marble Arch. All in all a good hotel, recommended.
