It was pretty dire to be honest but considering we paid £35 a night we weren't expecting much. The room was clean but very tired. We stayed for 2 nights, sadly the first night we didn't get any sleep due to the noise of other guests in the rooms around us, but the 2nd was better. The station is 10-15 minute walk away which was very convenient for travel into the city, though it's a very steep and hilly walk. Staff were just plain rude. It was fine for us as a base as it was cheap and clean and we spent most of our weekend out and about. Oh, no hot water in the mornings and they didn't have any heating on so it was very cold!

My husband and I stayed here over the weekend but really wish we had gone back to the one we stay in in Harlesdon. This hotel has a lovely facade but thats about it. From the get go we got the impression it was bad, the door man just stood there while we struggled with our bags and did he open the door well no he did not. From there we went to reception and I am being honest when I say it felt like a scene from the league of gentlemen are you local. The man did not understand what we said and the same went for what he said to us.

There was no help in the maze that is this hotel with badly written signs pointing everywhere. He just said go down there and keep going you will find it. After about 25 minutes trying to find the room we came upon a lovely court yard and upon entering the room thought that although basic would suit our needs. I will give credit to those that make up the rooms they did a good job with what they had. We were there to spend time in London not the room but the reason this was so terrible was the staff they just dont care about their customers. The first morning finding breakfast was also a struggle. The room it was held in would have been wonderful in its a hayday but now looks shabby and run down. the toast operator was rubbish and took ages to queue for it. You could have frosties, cornflakes, or coco pops. The orange juice was like cordial and the best hot drink was from a machine. The English breakfast we booked could only be granted from reception we did not realise this for 15 minutes as there were no signs saying this. When the breakfast arrived tinned mushrooms was a first and last, the half inch baggins (sausages) were terrible and soggy and the rest lacked any ability or effort. Plastic was placed over tableclothes to avoid washing them even though they were filthy under the table cloth. The chair covers looked like something from medieval times.

The last day was to be get up, shower, pack and go but no this hotel had other ideas. We realised no hot water was available so contacted reception to which i was told yes mam ok and they hung up. My husband and I ended up boiling two kettles that we had to hold in the socket to boil very safe me thinks not. With the boiled water we were able to have a wash how lucky we thought at the time that through our own inginuity we were able to do the basic thing of washing. I do understand the words budget but jesus this is rediculus. The room key stopped working one night and it took three trips to reception to sort this out the man didnt have a clue. This hotel would have once upon a time been great but now due to the incompetant staff and their lack of humanity is why this hotel will only continue to attract foreign students, backpackers or those looking for a bargain. I can promise you this is not a bargain.

I URGE YOU NOT TO GO.

I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED THE OWNERS OF THE HOTEL AND INFORMED THEM THAT WITHOUT BETTER STAFF THE HOTEL WILL JUST FALL INTO DISREPAIR.

HOPE THIS HELPS SOME OF YOU SORRY ITS SO LONG BUT JUST SO FRUSTRATED.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed by the order and cleanliness of the hotel. The pictures you saw when booking were far from what the reality is. The breakfast room was absolutely should be washed once again in a very dirty condition and chair Husen. Because, unfortunately, the breakfast was a few months yet to see it. The breakfast was white bread, butter and jam also very poor. The coffee from paper cups was ah nit particularly well. One should at least some things off so that the guests can relax
