“Wonderful!”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

Having had a few expensive disasters in the Kensington area we thought that we would try this new approach. We were not disappointed. The room was modern, very clean, the bed was comfortable and the little kitchen was very well appointed. Even a Nespresso coffeemake was provided with a choice of capsules.

The receptionists (24 hours) were helpful. The emails that I have sent in response to feedback have been promptly answered which I think shows a genuine interest in their guests. I mentioned that as our room faced the front that the roller blinds did not offer privacy and either had to be up or down, a little difficult when one wanted some natural light in the room but was getting dressed. This apparently has been addressed and venetian blinds are to be fitted soon.

I would recommend that the rooms at the back of the hotel are quieter and some overlook the patio. However it is nice to see London from the front as it is a nice area to stay in.

Parking is easy at weekends as it is free after 1.30pm on a Saturday. The nearby Holiday Inn has a basement carpark but it is expensive.

I will certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: As above for privacy and lack of outside noise choose rooms at the back

Thank you for your kind review. Your comments are very much appreciated and I’m glad that you noticed the facilities that we offer our guests – especially the Nespresso coffee maker, which we have just added to all our larger rooms! We are guest-obsessed and our staff are keen to ensure that every request, problem, or question is addressed. I’m so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and I hope that you return so that we can do our best to continue to impress.

This is a modern hotel with a kitchenette with microwave and fridge which is handy if you want to make breakfast or you can order a continental for 7 pounds. We stayed 3 nights and the first room we were offered (double deluxe) was far too small and in the basement but we were offered a larger room which was fine. It is not a luxurious hotel but the price is about 200 pounds less. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating, calling for taxis when we needed them, offering a list of restaurants to eat at with discounts and in walking distance. My only complaint is that there are no mattress covers on the bed which I find a little unhygienic and the pillows are a little hard but the bed was large and quite comfortable. I probably won't stay here again as it is the the wrong side of town for us but we were attending the Good Food Show at the Olympia building and so it was handy for that. Keep in mind that a London cab from London City airport (which we love by the way) cost us 55 pounds with tip as the traffic was heavy (45 pounds by private car to go back). You can get the DLR train for around 5 pounds apparently.

Room Tip: Do not choose the basement as they are small. Bear in mind that even though there is a lift there a...

Extremely helpful staff at all times. Clean, modern room/bathroom with very useful kitchenette feature. Earl's Court station 2 mins. away and easy food shopping, post office and pubs the same. Sainsbury's 5 mins. walking if you're an expat wanting to shop before heading to the airport! Wi-Fi signal was very weak - we did tell reception but it didn't improve. Shower is eco-friendly which is great, but the temp. varies which is a pain (it's not extreme hot to cold, but just when you get the right temp. it goes cooler)

Hi Laura S, thanks for your review. I’m delighted to know that you enjoyed your stay and that you appreciated all the fantastic facilities our hotel provides. Free Wi-Fi is one of these facilities, which we offer all our guests for their convenience and enjoyment. I am sorry that during your visit the signal was weak because normally it is fast and effective. However, we have a fair usage policy which means that if the policy isn’t observed the Wi-Fi speed does suffer. Currently in London, Chelsea and Westminster are the only two boroughs that do not have BT Super-Fast broadband yet. As soon as it becomes available we will be upgrading our bandwidth.

My husband and I spent 5 nights at Base2Stay. This hotel was in the perfect location. One block from Earl's Court Station which is on the Picadilly and District Lines, which means you can be anywhere in central London in 10 minutes. The rooms are clean and modern. They are small but definitely plenty big enough. I've had smaller in Europe. The hotel gives discounts to local restaurants which we found actually useful. We went to Gourmet Burger Kitchen (30% off), Strada (10% off) and Pembroke Pub (10% off). All three restaurants were great. It was such a great place to walk around. We always felt safe no matter what time it was. Hotel was very quiet as well. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Traveled with a family member and spent four nights at base2stay. We loved the bunk beds and found the room quite large for London. There was plenty of room for one suitcase on the floor and the other fit nicely in the closet. The beds were comfortable and they were even able to find me a different pillow when I found the first one very hard. I really loved that they had proper duvets, and not the sheet and blankets that are common in English hotels.

The wi-fi worked great for cheeking e-mail and some surfing. We also thought the new reception was lovely.

The hotels location in a quiet street so close to Earl's Court was great. There was plenty of choices for breakfast or a late snack nearby. Will certainly return the next time I'm in London!
