Saturday in Brixton is a good and happy experience. Lots of stalls with different things to sell. Lots of happy smiley people, groove music around, a place to visit for a different experience, good food and drinks around....

I have spent quite a bit of time in Brixton over the last few years as there is more often that not good gigs in and around the area. Market day is interesting esoecially if you want to try some West Indian foods or pick up some cheap supplies for a new flat.

There is a strange dynamic in Brixton at the moment, on the one hand you have people lining the streets trying to sell you everything from crack cocaine to large amounts of cannabis, and on the other hand there is the new wave of hipsters sipping lattes in the gourmet cafes that are popping up everywhere.

Its worth a visit but its hectic and a bit hard work sometimes....

Just too many people, all in a hurry. I avoid Brixton these days. I guess it might be exciting for a tourist to experience the market. There's a good art house cinema there though.

I live on the Brixton/Streatham border. Brixton is an incredibly vibrant and positive area - fantastic restaurants/cafes, brilliant food - and some really lovely people. The markets are awesome.

Maybe is it because I espected too much from that place. In fact, I wanted to go there because I read that's where grew up Bowie. Well, there are many other nicer places in London to visit.
