“Very Central and Reasonably Priced”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

I've stayed in this hotel twice already. Its location is excellent. It is close to many tourist attractions and it is just a 2 minute walk from Russell Square tube station, so it is very convenient to travel on foot or by tube/bus. Other major tube/train/bus stations are also close by. Tesco (opening till late), pubs, Brunswick shopping centre and other eating places are all within walking distance, not more than 5 minutes.

It is nothing special as a hotel because all is very basic. But I think it is good value for money. Rooms are not the most spacious but they are not that tiny either. Breakfast, both English and continental, is also decent. If you are after a clean hotel room, which is situated in a very central and safe area in London, without spending too much, then this hotel will do for you. Towels are changed daily, bed is made daily too, and tea and coffee making facilities are available in the room.

Staff is friendly and helpful. I never had any issues. Only the free WiFi didn't work for me.

I’d definitely consider staying in this hotel again when I’m in London and I don’t feel like paying a fortune to stay in a fancy hotel.

We stayed overnight on Sunday as we had an early morning departure from St Pancras. The room while small was clean and comfortable although no toiletries were provided. Didn't eat in the hotel in evening but had breakfast on Monday morning. It was quite the most disgusting breakfast I have ever had. The food was tasteless and over cooked. Eggs obviously frozen and reheated. The bacon and sausages were were lukewarm at best and tasted terrible. The toast was cold, soft and chewy. The tea was out of an urn and was stewed, almost undrinkable.

Only good thing I can say about this hotel was the breakfast, which was excellent. Bedroom chairs thick of dust wallpaper scuffed in places and pillows so thin may as well have had pillowcase only. A part from that location was spot on.

Room Tip: Ask for a room off the main road, it's very noisey.

First of all, if your a man or women and you want impress your partner, do not book here.

I'm fairly well travelled and have stayed in hostels and hotels around the world and overall, this is easily one of the worst. The worst being a backpackers in Melbourne, that was super cheap and to be expected, the same cannot be said for the President Hotel.

My biggest gripe with this hotel is the finish, yes it may sound finicky but every where you turn in this hotel there are chunks and lumpsout of everything, our room door frame looked like it had been forcibly entered with a crowbar, the windows were dilapidated and falling to pieces, chunks out of the bathroom door, stains up the walls, manky walls, manky radiators, ripped and stained bedding. This place is in major need of some TLC.

Quality of sleep wasn't great, the bed seemed to move away from the wall effortlessly and the noise from the plumbing next door, i.e. when a neighbouring room took a shower or flushed toilet it sounded like it was in the room with us.

Overall my feeling towards this hotel is that has no pride in it's appearance and a complete disregard towards their customers, avoid or experience at your own peril!

Stayed here for the first time from the 14th-16th August was very impressed indeed. 2 Minute walk from Russell Square Tube Station which is always a little crowded but its worth it.

We arrived to ask about check in as we were told we wouldn't be able to check in until 3pm and we arrived at about 12.30 and the very cheerful guy at reception an American chap told us our room was ready now and we could check in now, he explained all about check out times, breakfast times etc. was very impressed

We were on the first floor in a double room. very clean and airy facing right onto Russell square. we had a very big window, a TV, Coffee and Tea , Hairdryer , Massive Wardrobe, Side Table, Desk, Dressing Table and Shower. Was very clean indeed bed was made daily by room service and bins emptied, clean towels and new soap daily.

Breakfast was served from 7.30 till 10 and was a selection of cereals ,fresh fruit , tea , coffee, milk, orange juice and water. The English breakfast was a serve your self buffet type thing which included sausage, bacon, tomato , fried, scrambled, poached, boiled eggs , baked beans , toast and kippers on the tables were baskets of jams it was just what you would expect and I enjoyed it only downside was the toast some people may find a bit soft and chewy as it sits under a heat lamp. We never tried the restaurant on site which is a carvery style.

Would recommend this hotel to stay in as the staff were great, food was above average in my eyes and location perfect one stop from kings cross 2 from covent garden. I would suggest that you also ask at reception for an extra pillow as you only get one which isn't enough.

Room Tip: Keep windows shut if your facing the park as the noise from morning traffic isn't an amazing wak...

Hot room. Fans only available to asmatic people!!!! No netting in windows so windows could not be open safely.

Toiletries provided only tiny soap.

Asked for some cereal breakfast 15 minutes before breakfast time as we had to catch an early train. This was refused and no packed sandwich offered though breakfast was paid for.

Very poor breakfast.

My daughter and I stayed here for three nights, the room was cleaned every day, the staff could not have been more helpful and the evening meal was good as was the breakfast, Location was good, 10 minutes from Kings Cross and close to the underground to get around. All in all I would definitely recommend this hotel and will be going again.
