Take a stroll from Paddington Basin to Little Venice. Calm, serene, untroubled. At Little Venice turn either way to enjoy the gentle life of narrowboats, floating cafes, and just a simple slow-down in life

Little Venice is nice for a walk on a sunny warm day. There is a small number of places you can sit for a drink or some food (boat cafe, Waterways pub, Summerhouse). I don't particularly like the chain restaurants in the modern Paddington basin area a bit further down on the canal.

Soothing ride down the canals...history telling guides fill you in on all the interesting facts and folklore. Beautiful homes line the edges as well as a few street musicians that serenade you as you pass by.

Although I loved the scenic views of the canal ride I was anxious to get off and and move a bit faster, exploring more of London and Camden.

If youre looking for a slow paced relaxing event with little time it would be your best bet.

My wife and I took the Little Venice canal boat ride up to Camden Town on a recent visit to London. It was a nice relief from the big city. We took the Underground to Warwick and the ride took about fifty minutes one way. We took the Underground back but you can also take a round trip. The experience of riding the old canal boat was fun but you are down low and don't get to see much of the buildings and gardens above you. The boat makes one stop at the London Zoo which would be a great way to travel there with children. Camden has a lively street market on the bank holiday we visited and makes a good destination.
