After staying here this weekend I felt the need to write a great review as I enjoyed my stay extensively. The atmosphere the hotel as even going through the lobby is quite something and you're welcomed by an open fire and the smell of Christmas all around. My room was lovely and probably the best few nights of sleep one could ever wish for but just a shame that the view was overlooking a brick wall, can't have it all I guess! Staff were friendly and always helpful too which just makes your stay even more pleasant.

Location is perfect with a tube station entrance right next door and perfect destination for shopping as well with Harvey Nichols and Harrods just on the door step!

Only down side is how busy the bar gets in the evenings so if you're planning on a quite drink then don't think its the place for you, however that may be down to the Christmas party period at which I was there for so can't quite comment a lot about that.

Dear itsstanners, first let me say how much of a pleasure it was to have you stay with us at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park recently and thank you for taking the time to post a review on Tripadvisor. Your valuable feedback is much appreciated and we have passed your comments on to the team. We were thrilled to read that you enjoyed our world famous Mandarin Oriental service so much and experienced such a sound night’s sleep in your comfortable room. We agree that the hotel does benefit from a very fortunate location too, especially at this time of year. Christmas is certainly a special time to visit London and the hotel takes great pride in both our spectacular Christmas decorations and in creating an inviting festive atmosphere. In response to your comment regarding the bar, we are excited to inform you that a new Tea and Champagne Bar / public lounge will be opening in 2014. Situated next to our reception, the Lounge will offer a relaxing area for our guests to meet and enjoy refreshments. We do hope you will consider staying with us again and look forward to welcoming you back to Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London in the future.

With best regards

Stayed for a long weekend on the shop and drop special offer. The hotel is perfectly located in Knightsbridge, opposite Harvey Nichols and Brompton Road on one side and Hyde Park on the other. We had a Junior Suite overlooking the park on the 7th floor and the view of Winter Wonderland was lovely. The room and decor was adequate and strangely for this chain, very British in style. The bed was extremely comfortable but the bathroom cramped with a shower over the bath which is not ideal. I think some modernisation is required overall.

Breakfast offerings were comprehensive but in the end the food was average and very expensive if you do not have breakfast included, The charge for a full English Breakfast is £32 which to my mind was just too much. I had Eggs Benedict one morning with the eggs overcooked and too much sauce and for a change the next morning had simple scrambled egg which was bland and tasteless.

We also tried the oriental offerings in the bar one night and by contrast the food there was superb. The bar itself is also very good if a little cramped but with a nice atmosphere.

The staff are all excellent, nothing is too much trouble and the attention to detail is unsurpassed. Would I recommend the hotel, yes, but only for its location which in itself, probably isn't enough at the prices charged.

Dear SpikeyMikey, thank you for taking the time to write a review on Tripadvisor about your recent visit to Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London. We were thrilled to read that you enjoyed our comfortable beds, views over Winter Wonderland, attentive and genuine Mandarin Oriental service and our Mandarin Bar so much. With that said, however, we recognise that there were a few instances where you weren’t completely satisfied during your stay. In particular, we were most disappointed to read your comments regarding the cramped bathroom and your experience at breakfast. This feedback is invaluable and much appreciated. Firstly, due to the age of the building we are limited in terms of structural renovations, especially when it comes to plumbing matters. This is a situation under serious consideration at present, however, as we look for a long term solution. Secondly, regarding breakfast, I would like to apologise for the lapse in service quality that you appear to have experienced and agree that it is totally unacceptable. We are currently investigating this complaint further and are looking to put measures in place to prevent this from happening again. For this reason we would like to invite you to contact the hotel directly to speak with the Resident Manager (+44 (0)20 7235 2000 or via email at molon-info@mohg). On behalf of the whole team, we hope to be able to restore your confidence in Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park and if you are planning a trip to London in the future we very much hope you will consider staying with us again.

I recently stayed at the Mandarin Oriental on a quick vacation to London. The standard room was much larger than expected and beautiful. The service and amenities were impeccable. It was a great location, with great restaurants in the hotel, which made it easy as I was a solo traveler. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for the first time, this is the weakest of the Mandarin Oriental hotels I have stayed in (New York, Boston, San Fran, etc). The rooms are old English charm but in dire need of modernization. Air conditioning at full setting does not manage to cool down the stuffy room and we are in December! Called maintenance but not much change since. Despite me taking the effort to sign up for the Mandarin oriental customer program none of the hotels recognizes me and it is slowly getting annoying to start all over again every time. Maybe a rewards program could handle this .... Building is amazing and a real must see for London but probably not worth the stay

Dear Raimo L, first let me say how much of a pleasure it was to have you stay with us at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park recently and thank you for taking the time to post a review on Tripadvisor. I was sorry to learn that your stay was not entirely to your satisfaction, primarily as a result of our room product. Service excellence is the pillar on which we build upon, and our aim is to consistently provide this to all our guests so I am disappointed the product let us down this time. Your feedback on the accommodation has been noted and I would like to share that the hotel is planning for a total renovation of all our rooms and suites to include our bathrooms. Lighting and air-conditioning will also be addressed. I am, therefore, confident that all issues raised will be rated higher once completed. The project will take several years to complete; however, we have already produced a few sample rooms as part of our planning and expect to commence full refurbishment in 2015. Thank you also for the comments regarding issues with our customer loyalty program; we have passed your feedback onto the Hotel Group’s E-commerce team who will investigate this matter further.

I would welcome the opportunity to have you stay with us once again to demonstrate that this was an isolated incident and highlight that not all of our accommodation is of the standard you experienced. If you would allow us to, I would be delighted to personally take care of your next reservation and ensure you are very well looked after and that we can restore your faith in Mandarin Oriental.

With best regards
