A very interesting and comfortable small hotel. Delightful and satisfying continental breakfast served in your room or the Conservatory for 11GBP. Well located for eating out. The staff, however, is superbly attentive and responsive. They make the stay extra special.

If you're looking for a truly unique stay while in London, you won't regret choosing Rookery Hotel. The service we received from the front desk staff was far superior to what we've experienced in any hotel we've ever stayed in. At one point, my husband asked the concierge if he had any suggestions for antique watch shops. They talked a little, and we left for dinner. By the time we returned, he had slipped an envelope with several suggestions (including locations) under our door for our convenience. This is just one example, but is indicative of how we were treated during our three-night stay. The building itself is incredibly unique and full of character. We stayed in the George Peacock room. It is romantic and fun. Our only complaint was how dark the room was. It was difficult to get ready with the lack of light. But we didn't really mind. This hotel is expensive (though not at all outrageous, when compared with other high-quality hotels in London!) but if you're a person who enjoys staying somewhere more memorable than big chain hotels, I can't recommend it highly enough.

We walked almost everywhere we went, but the few times we requested a cab, the front desk staff took care of it and had a cab there for us within just a few minutes.

What a delightful hotel and a pleasure to find in these days of hotel chains. It is like stepping back in time as soon as you enter the front door. The service couldn't be better and the honesty bar and lounge is an excellent idea. We took the family there and it was like being in our own lounge. Highly recommend for a stay with a difference.

This is a small hotel, centrally located in a small alley very close to the Farringdon tube station. I stayed here for business for a couple of days, and with the family for a few more days. It wored out well in both cases. The rooms and the common areas are very nice and cosy, staff is friendly and extremely helpful, and the room service breakfast is very good. We have no complaints whatsoever, and this will be my first choice for London Hotel from now and onwards!

Hotel was very nice. Room was spacious, free wifi. They have a very odd toilet with a chain. You must get out of the way or you get wet. Shower has no curtain so you will soak the floor and walls. Very nice staff and an honesty bar in the lobby. The hotel was in a great location for getting around London. No elevator so try not to stay on the 3rd floor

We stayed in a superior double for one night only, but I would happily sell my car to spend more time in this wonderful hotel! I booked on a whim because we wanted to prolong a holiday a little longer, it turned out to be the nicest part of the whole trip thanks to the tranquility, the quality of the surroundings and the wonderful staff.
From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and the staff could not have been more welcoming, but also with a sense of humour and none of the 'stiffness' that can come with hotels of this quality. Our room was large, comfortable and furnished with period furniture but also well equipped with an iPod doc, TV and DVD.
There is no restaurant but after dinner in a nearby restaurant we could relax in the cosy conservatory, whose name doesn't do justice to the reality of the cosy room and log fire.
I couldn't recommend this hotel more, go on and treat yourselves, you won't regret it!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights while on vacation, and all I can say is that if you're thinking about going...go! The Rookery is charming, the service and staff were wonderful and if you're looking for a place to stay that makes you feel like you're in the UK (rather than a generic hotel experience) I just can't find enough enough nice things to say about the place. The room-service breakfast was excellent, and the conservatory was the perfect place for afternoon tea (or a gin & tonic from the honesty bar.) Furthermore, the hotel is within walking distance to a number of excellent restaurants (we chose Fox & Anchor for some traditional pub food, and then Hix Tavern, which I'd highly recommend) and sites such as St. Pauls, Charing Cross, Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery to name a few. If that isn't enough, Farringdon underground station is only about a block away, and I for one preferred this section of London to the more touristy west end. And it was less expensive. I would definitely go back! The only downside (and to me, it was a small one because the rest of our experience was so good) is that the rooms are rather dimly lit, which was only an issue when I was trying to apply makeup.
